S3 Service in 900miles

Post by Riz_RS4 » Wed Jul 09, 2003 8:27 pm

My S3 is due in for its first AVS service soon and was wondering is their anything to look out for? any common things that dealers might miss?

They say its going to cost around £240.
Im getting a new engine guard and my xenon lights checked at the same time

Which parts do they do the oil on?
Engine Oil
Gearbox Oil
Heldex Oil

anything else ive missed?

Cheers ppl

What mileage are you on Riz?

Can't help re AVS - our's is on fixed and has just had her first 10k service. We got them to do the 12 month check as well as the oil change. The first 10 k fixed service is only an oil change! Glad we did as they picked up a fault we weren't aware of - leaking cambelt (?) cover - and fixed it under warranty. Also got them to use Castrol Formula SLX as there seems to be some disagreement as to appropriate oil for fixed service intervals.

1st AVS is engine oil only, (make sure they use the right stuff) anything else will be extra - so Haldex oil is about £50 on top (inc VAT) The labour portion is the main part of the bill, so it pays to shop about.
Supplying yr own oil is one way of lowering the chance of them getting it wrong and might cut a few quid profit off the dealer price.
Re Haldex - don't forget that the service interval for this is 20k miles, most dealers overlook it
cheers

cars gone approx 15900miles at the moment...... so i take it that they should do a full service including the heldex oil change.
Labour isnt too bad at my dealers i think, its between £60 -70 incl vat.

It runs on Castrol SLX for AVS prepped cars from the factory..... thats all ive been doing since new, just topping the oil up....... its drunk 5-6litres

Riz Yaar, i had mine serviced a few months ago and was charged £290 but i did ask for a discount and ended up paying £240 which is still better than nothing.
That included the Haldex oil change which is necessary on the first AVS service.
