Tyres

Post by s4sean » Sun Jul 08, 2007 9:22 am

I know this has been talked about before but..

I need 4 new standard size S4 tyres.

Been quoted £416 fitted etc for P6000s or Zero Rossos.

Any body got issues with these tyres or prices?
Gonna go get em next week unless there is a much better option.

Thanks

Do not buy P6000! This will become a long thread me thinks as there are some good tyres available, so hang on to hear what everyone has to say, however my preferance is Continental SportContact 2.

Avoid P6000s like the plague. The P Zero Rossos are ok, but for the sort of money you have been quoted, you should be able to get into Goodyear GSD3 or Michelin PS2 territory. Of the two, I always run GSD3s so can't advise on the Michelins.

As above don't get the P6000's the car just has a mind of its own when they're fitted and wonders all over the road. I suspect most will choose GSD3's but everyone has there own type which they prefer. I went with Toyo T-1Rs purely as had them before and liked them

Eagle F1s :)

Annoys me loads that they wear on the front on the outside edges though. As does any typre on this car.

Edge wear looks worse on these tyres as the edges don't have full tread depth to start with.

Otherwise they get my recommendation.

Got PS2's all round on mine and have no issues with them at all, also quiet at speed.

Like your new avatar Graham.

Out of interest, what's so bad about P6000's? (I have them on my car, not my choice..)

They are crap :)

Very poor grip wet and dry, poor ride, they wear out pretty fast too :( - have I missed anything ?

Agree on concensus, I run Gsd3...very impressed on the road, though have heard good things about Toyo T1-R.
I have run Pirelli p-zero rosso on a couple of different Porkers and can't wait to wear them out to fit something decent....certainly wouldn't entertain them on the S4.
2000 B5 S4 facelift, sadly missed...enjoying the 2005 A2 TDi Special Edition though!

LOL

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 & Toyo T1-S both very good (T1-S said to be ever better than T1-S)
