Anti hi jack

Post by kennyboy » Fri Jul 04, 2003 1:00 pm

Phone various Clifford dealers up to see about blackjax and have had different opinions.

a) no we can't fit it stand alone (must be with a Clifford system)/ yes we can do it on its own and it will be £250
b) we don't fit them as they are unreliable (on their own), but we can sell you a complete clifford alarm with the feature.
c) No need for another CAT1 system, just fit an Autowatch 68hi anti hi jack as an alternative.

Also heard stories re: blackjax fitted (activated), certain insurance companies will consider that car does not have CAT1 status anymore.

Anyone shed some light please?

Tried to reply earlier, but having problems with my desktop... Bloody rebooting of it's own accord

You can buy BlackJax seperately, but I would recommed the following setup:

1. Clifford Concept 600 (Cat 1 and has BlackJax)
2. InteliStart 4 (Remote Engine Start)
3. Good Tracking system, possibly interfaced with one of the Aux channels on the Clifford for additional security .

Find the best installer you can, as the install is the most important thing. Think carefully about the placement of the security components.

You will need to get the Audi alarm disabled if you are to fit the Clifford Alarm.

Thanks Phil,

Been quoted £600 for the concept 600. But as you say it depends how good the installer is.

My mate did mine (It's his job). Won the Clifford Installers competition for 5 years in a row, undefeated!! He is a wiz with this kind of thing, but lives/works in Sheffield. Worth taking a weekend break in the Peak District .

Riz - Get yourself down to Technicar on Abbeydale Road, or give them a call ( http://www.technicar.ltd.uk/ ).

Kennybot - Worth giving them a call also, as they may come to you to do the install.

Thanks Phil, gave your boys a call but due to distance it was getting pricey.

However, phoned Bushy's crew up at Berkshire Car Sounds Ltd and they installed a Clifford Concept 600 for me at short notice.

Bit like the joke about the guy who parks his car in Liverpool to go to a football match and these small kids come up and ask for some money to look after the car. The bloke says no need as he has an alsation in the back of the car. The kid then says whats it like at putting fires out

You would be amazed about the amount of urine that beast can hang onto.

Here's what I'm getting for the Imola :

- Anti-jacking film (100 micron) on the four door windows (front and rear).
Cost EUR 320.

- Traqueur recovery-system (aka "LoJack" in UK/USA) which emits a signal picked-up by receivers installed in police cars, apparently works in buildings and underground.
Cost EUR 290 for install and EUR 95/year.

And specially for Dog, my own private deterrent (sorry couldn't resist) :

Eric
Is that a Bouiver Desflanders or a Giant Schnauzer?

Mick, you're a connaisseur
Taipan is a Giant Schnauzer / RiesenSchnauzer indeed.

Nice one Eric
Excellent breed.
A friend has 2 Bouiver Desflanders. I sometimes "play" with these and I very often loose. They are very strong, and as you know are from the herding breed. They can push me around all over the place.
When I saw Taipan I asked if it was a Bouiver as they are pretty similar in stature, but she corrected me in telling me the correct breed.

If we had the time/place for a dog then it would have to be one of these 2 breeds.... A proper dog
Enjoy
