Anybody know if "Tinting" or "Privacy glass" can be removed?

Have looked at a few cars and would prefer clear windows.

Would a B5 S4 with dark windows have come from the factory like this? ie is it the glass that is dark or is it a coating or film usually?

Can be either, some factory tinted glass, others aftermarket film. If its very dark chances are its aftermarket.

So, if it's a film can it be removed? Presumably if a film an edge would be visible on an open rear window?

Yes and yes, best to be professionally removed, would not cost much... I'd make a call to a tint/film dealer and ask how much to remove from a car.

How dark is a tint that still allows 70% light through? Anyone got pics of a car with a legal tint to the side windows?

Having a dark interior helps make a tint look darker so with this law I doubt it would ever be worth me doing mine with silver leather...

The trouble also being you can be sold a very light tint, but very fews cars have a 0% tint from factory, so the combined effect can topple you foul of the regulations.
