Oooh you two know how to strike a nerve! I'm an ex-biker (and want to get another one). We don't know the real cause of the accident - there have been a fault with the road or the bike.

I would not go that far to say no sympathy, and the end of the day they normally only hurt themselves ... but then again, this old car vs bike thing will never end! so probably not worth starting up!!!

and, without bikes, who would I have left to play with I ask you??!?! :P

PS. Just call me mad max, its me against the bikes at the moment out here :P

Edited to also say, I see worse driving by most car owners than bikers!!

And that, gentleman, is exactly why shortly after the birth of my first daughter I advertised my ZX6R in the trader.

Now that has put me off from riding into work tomorrow morning :(

I kinda agree with those who said bikers bring it on themselves - but it has to be said, this should only apply to idiot bikers. But I agree more with Viper about there being more idiot drivers about. If you ride your bike like an idiot chances are you'll be the one lying in the middle of the road, in a helluva lot of pain. If you drive your car like an idiot, chances are you'll end up severely hurting or killing innocent people. The amount of times a car driver has... ... ... nope, I'm not gonna get started on this. You all know what I'm going to say anyways :)

Viper you have more up-to-date news keep us updated please.

Scottyboy...no worries. Like Alps (and possibly others) I've seen it from both sides. Persnally, I think bikers tend to make better car drivers because they should be far more aware of what is going on around them (to ride properly, you have to ride defensively). My election manifesto will include the raising of the car driving age to 22 and before you can drive a car you must spend at least a year on a motorbike.

I agree he would have gone into that corner quite fast - the speed indicator on the video clip shows 62 and I assume viperbl was on the anchors at that point too, so "over 70" would be a fair guess. Is this one of those horrible corners that tighten up suddenly which the rider could have mis-read. Note lack of chevrons on the corner though?

The other riders seem to have negotiated the corner without problem, so this would indicate a mechanical failure or more likely "pilot error".

Hopefully his mates will help him back onto a bike as soon as he is out of hospital.

I guess the good thing about donors...err,.., I mean bikers is that if they're on a bike they're not clogging up the roads with another car.

Each to their own I guess, but I hope no-one in the rescue services was injured racing to the scene to help him.

Not nice to bike or car.

Not often you get it on camera though, you could be using it in court for the other party involved if they know you have it.

Thanks God every one's sort of OK, couldve been a lot worse.

God I want one of your camera setups :D
