Differences 210/225 Models

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a mate's 210 S3 (as he needs some cash quickly) and I think it'll probably be a bit of a laugh with the right mods.

Anyway, just wondered what the differences are between the 210 and 225 models? Not really too bothered about cosmetic stuff, I'm thing more about the mechanical side.

Has the 225 just got a slightly more powerful map than that of the 210? And if I was going to get it remapped anyway, would it make sense to start with a cheaper 210 if the end result will be the same? I suppose I would like to be aiming for 350 brake, or something along those lines.

I don't really know much about the S3's so any help much appreciated.

Should've said, I do realise that 350 bhp won't be achievable through a remap on its own :roll:

225 has a facelift (one piece lights etc) and uses an IHI turbo instead of the KKK. It develops a bit more torque and can get slightly more power from a remap. If you are remapping it I wouldn't say there was a huge difference between them. I have a 210 model and am well happy with it but then i've had the 1.9 rebuild. If you want 350+bhp then the 225 would be a better option so you don't have to upgrade turbo.

You will have to upgrade the turbo for 350hp...... S3 225 BAM engine code uses a K04 turbo which will only just make 290hp max.

for 330hp your looking at around 9k and a full blown nutter 400hp add a 1 to the front.

the biggest problems is the gearing with 330bhp its bloody hard work 1 to second 2/3 seconds, thrid is aronud 3 seconds after that not much time....
