Wrote my car off yesterday...

Post by rikrose » Thu May 24, 2007 10:49 am

I hit standing traffic on the motorway. Literally.

Fortunately, it wasn't the S4 I was driving.

No serious injuries. Two quite amusing ones. Back of the Mercedes estate I hit is pretty undamaged - think I scooped it with the Daewoo.

Sorry to hear about that Rik thank God you are all right, does that mean you will be driving the S4 or are you on a loan car?

GrahamS4: Was I awake? Yes.
MCB: The S4 is being taken away to have, ironically, its brakes replaced tomorrow.
S4Sat: actually, the covering goes awya and the airbag is quite soft. Smells of gunpowder though.
S4TAN: Usually I hear "nut behind the steering wheel" - similar to PEBKAC or ISO Layer 8 Issue, where I work.

PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.

There's a model for computer communications, called the ISO/OSI 7 layer model. It works down from Applications tlakiong to applications at layer 7, down to the hardware at layer 1. ISO Layer 8 is, therefore, the user. It's useful to note down ISO Layer 8 issues on trouble tickets, because seem seem to cluster around certain users.

So just lack of concentration, poor reading of traffic flow, other traffic emergency stopped?

Lucky escape anyhow.

ISO Layer 8 Issue,
I think you mean OSI (Open Systems Interconnect) ... which ironically is an ISO standard
I'm very familiar with the OSI 7 layer model - work with it every day (only up to L4 though)

LOL at "OSI Layer 8 problem" being the user .... I'll have to remember that ...

.I guess there will be the whiplash claims to 'look forward' to...
...hang on Whiplash is not an injury either....

If they 'claim' say they should pay extra for whiplash

Did you get some dodgy looking bloke come up to you with a card, whispering "no win no fee, mate"?

Did you think forget you were in a Daewoo, and so forgot to brake 200 metres in advance!!

Good to know you and all others OK mate.

Glad to hear you're ok. But will concur with GrahamS4's comment though. Driving into the back of stationary traffic ... you'll be lucky if you don't get a "driving without due care and attention" tug?
