A simple remap on a 34 if going to be over 400HP. They are seriously quick and your pockets need to be seriously deep

When I was looking for a comfortable quick car, I was considering a Mitsubishi 3000GT, a Skyline or an S4. The S4 won, in the end, largely down to having 1 fewer digits in the insurance quote.

Its true, I did look at an older r34 about 4 years ago, was going to trade in the S4. It was the same age as my S4, done less miles (it was an import tho), but looked plasticy and taty sinude, PLUS, as rikrose said, my insurance quotes where crazy! Just no was it was going to happen ...

Even stock R34 GTR's are quick, IIRC the GTR V-Spec II was the first production car to do a sub 8 minute lap of the 'ring.

Supposedly they leave the factory with 276hp but anecdotal evidence suggests more like 320.

That said, there are plenty of Skylines running around with 4 figure power outputs - not bad for a 2.6 eh?

I'd love an R34 GTR but when they are still the wrong side of 20K for a stock un - and RS4's and RS6's are hovering at that money now, well it gets harder to leave the Audi stable. Seeing as Stock RS4/6 is quicker (acceleration) than a stock R34 even the mighty GTR.

Ulitmately, as much as I love Skylines - I love the less attractive (to coppers) Audi look ;-)

That said, it's not like an R34 GTR In Bayside Blue looks ugly next to say a Misano Red RS4....that'd be a hard choice :-P
Wanted: C5 RS6 Avant

Audis are cheaper than women, and when they finally leave they don't take your kids and half your stuff....
although smack either one about and the police turn up ;-)

There was a lovely GTR V-spec at Santa Pod. Mint in fact with 700bhp and running mid 11's. He had spent £50k on the engine, the guy who worked on it was talking to Leon, he used to work for Cosworth and one of his projects was an Audi V6 about 7 years ago. Can you guess which one ?

Friend with Evo ALSO has a Skyline running about 550bhp..... but he competes in sprints and says the car is too heavy (I think they are fatter than salad dodger S4) also says gears are too long...so Evo is his sprint car now

Great thing with the skyline is it can take whatever power you throw at it. Suspension & brakes are pretty good, the chassis can handle it and that marvel of a 4wd system keeps you in check. A real shame about the weight.

Would only take me about 550hp to match him on the 1/4 I recon, and he has 700! They are not the quickest of cars. Certainly cost less to get that level of performance out of an S4/RS4 & we would have the "nicer" rather than ricer car :)
