Track day Insurance for the ring WTF!!!!!!!!

Post by kies4 » Mon May 14, 2007 3:30 pm

I just had to pay up for a days insurance for a trip to the ring....

http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/sponsor.htm

it cost fu-kin £317 for one full day, to run a couple of hours on saturday was going to be £475 in total. Just madness

it cost nearly half of my annual policy of £850

the cover is for accident damage to the car only no third part or armco

well fOOk me thats alot of money

That is a LOT of money........sounds a stupid question, but why did you take the policy out? Is that the going rate? I've done a track day at Silverstone on my own motorbike, and didn't bother with additional insurance, just rode at 80%......

well best to be sure, normal insurance company wouldn't consider it.

the ring is the most expensive the insurers know the risks as there is no run offs etc. I called a few and that was ball park figure.

he he, I wouldn't have paid that! I dont think you are going to have £317 worth more of fun from being able to drive that little harder......

Have fun though!

Not wanting to pi$$ anyone else off today but,

Coming back from the ring a few weeks ago i can say it's not so much your driving, it's the others.

We started at 9/10am and the track was OK, after that and it's a fucling race track where people are absolute nutters.

I can drive fast and I'm not the fastest but these guys were fruit cakes.

One of the cars with us was an SLR, he took out insurance and I think it cost him about 5k for the 4 hrs we had there

i thought the extra beauty of nurburg was that it is classed as a normal road rather than what it is, the most difficult race track in the world...

Not sure that Kies4 S4 cost him £50k, but I can see what you are getting at with the SLR, RS6's etc. If you can afford the car, surely you can afford the insurance...right :?

:) not quite 50k but well over 30k in all i recon, too true the 300 is low for peace of mind. but they're still thieving bar stewards

Just for interest my RS6 pal's insurance company let him go free, no charge no problem. Royal Sun Alliance if your interested.

lol, but if you're paying 300k+ for a car it's not much as a percentage.
