TIG welding the RS4 TTB and BiPipe

Post by viperbl » Mon May 14, 2007 5:49 pm

One of my pipes has come loose; the bracket at the top has broken.

Anyway, went to see a guy about TIG welding it, he commented on the fact there is a rubber seal in it, what should I do with this? just allow it to melt and ask him to try and make sure its a proper seal??

He was not the most helpfull, kinda did the classic sucking through his teeth and telling me he could not guarantee a seal...

Common sense. Take the O-ring of and have it welded pressuretight. You also need to remove the TB before welding as alu gets reaaly hot and you dont want to destroy the plastic TB part.

BTW. I just had this done for mine and for the same reason. mine had also stripped the camcover.

Cool, cheers ... I always thought after I had finished with the S4 engine I would not have to worry about the TBB and pipes, looks like I was wrong!

Stick with the S4 engine and get a Bi pipe. lol

I think it should be fine if you get it welded. Just remove the TB as this is a very very expensiver part. I think audi charg about 700+ vat and Vag parts £500 all in. Just for the TB. The pressure pipes are about 300+ each side.

Welding is the best solution and even better than a replacement.
