DRC Survey
Just a quick note about my DRC (Disastrous Road Control)
1300 miles ago (10 days ago) I had new dampers etc all round.
70 miles cruising UK roads, seemed OK
1000 fast miles in France and Germany, Fantastic! !
200 odd miles back on UK turf, not good.
now I'm back on UK roads, back to normal, doesn't feel right.
I guess it's something I've just got to get used to.

Hi PhilT and all,PhilT wrote:Here's my view:
- Aftermarket is probably the best option if you are out of warranty, however I would like to know more about Grizz's vibrating accelerator.
I have had my RS6 for about 2 weeks now and before buying it did my research - checked with Audi UK/Main dealer (1 owner FASH) to see what warranty claims had been made, also made sure the supplying dealer warranty would cover the DRC. The day after I bought it I took it to my local Audi dealer where I have become friends with the DP and they gave it a good 2hr once over all was good. I hope I am not tempting fate chipping in on this post.......however.....
Interesting point about Grizz above - My car has no history of DRC probs at all and to me seems fine, but when I hit certain bumps (approx 1 per journey / every other journey) I get the vibrating accelerator pedal? It just feels like the ABS is kicking in but through the wrong pedal????
I am a bit of a perfectionist and in the past this would have been straight back to the dealer but now I really can't be ar$ed and I love the car and can put up with this little niggle? but thought i would share it with you.
Cheers,
Lig.

DRC/survey - suspension
I had similar symptoms on my RS6 (plenty of grip but unsettled feeling that the car may veer at at any time)and the car was diagnosed with a "front wishbone bearing" problem, these were replaced under warranty by Newton Abbot Audi and the car is much better.RSVI wrote:Just a quick note about my DRC (Disastrous Road Control)

RE: DRC/survey - suspension
Lig ... vibrating pedal is a one of the first symptons of DRC failure.
RE: DRC/survey - suspension
Had my 03 RS6 avant since Jan - DRC problems since the day I picked it up.
Had half the DRC replaced in Feb, currently back at dealers + I'm trying to get the other 2 shocks replaced (they just wanna do one).
My accelerator has vibrated over any slight bump in the road, but especially when turning a corner over a bumpy surface.

Still got it after the 4 new dampersWolverine wrote:Lig ... vibrating pedal is a one of the first symptons of DRC failure.
Think this could be an RS6 thing.

RE: Re: RE: DRC/survey - suspension
Wolverine - that scares me......
RSVI - that makes me feel kind of better....thanks for posting that.
I only seem to get it on specific bumps. At the moment I can put up with it as it is only once every 2-3 journeys (150mile journeys). If it gets worse I guess I will have it checked out....
Cheers,
Lig.

RE: Re: RE: DRC/survey - suspension
I feel this "knocking" of the pedal quite a lot, but then the Surrey roads are crap.
Can't say i felt it once in France or Germany last week.

RE: Re: RE: DRC/survey - suspension
sorry Lig .... should have been more articulate .... what I meant was that pedal rebound is often, but not always, a sign of possible DRC troubles. Keep an eye on it, if it starts to become very regular and frequent then get the DRC checked out. Occassional amount of pedal rebound is apparently the norm according to Audi (well, thats what they told me !).
RE: Re: RE: DRC/survey - suspension
I have driven a few RS6's and all have accelerator pedal rebound, even with perfect DRC. Its just the extent of the feel, to me its simply a symptom of a performance car on a non-performance chassis. No matter what spec of suspension, anti roll bars and drivetrain, thay aint going to overcome the spec of the A6 chassis.
To me, its a very minor niggle that is far outweighed by the good points!

RE: Re: RE: DRC/survey - suspension
Agreed with what you chaps have said, but why do you get 'pedal rebound' on the accelerator pedal?? When it happens it feels like its mechanical as I said just like ABS kicking in??
Oh well, I feel better now and will sleep tonight!!
Nite all,

Yo Phil, I must reiterate what my learned and concerned fellow uberwagen owner asks as this subject seems to be going nowehere, and I'm sure you have better things to be doing than nursemaiding us??? Perhaps we would be better off with a more diversified approach to whomever as I can't for the life of me recall whom we are supposed to be getting engineering satisfaction from. So as to release you to do better things are you willing to let the relevant contact details be know by pm if needbe??morsimon wrote:PhilT wrote:I've followed up my two emails with a phone call today. Audi are interetsed in resolving this, and are looking into what the technicalities are.... Will keep you posted.

Any news - its been another month.

Is there any news or are we being politely fobbed off by the Limey 4 ringers in the hopes that by the time they do get around to remembering they had an outstanding enquiry about some rather dated biturbo saloons and avants which had some suspension problems??? Why infact should they care given their continual tardy customer care.....
