Meets Gallery

Post by ChelseaMick » Sun Jun 22, 2003 9:44 pm

Would it be beneficial to have a "Meets" section in the RS246 gallery?

All members could upload pictures into the gallery from various meets after asking an Admin to create a specific meet folder to upload into...(Does this make sense?)

Just pondering really..

Good idea really

But could do with better gallery software to make it easier to use IMHO
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Steve
Try Gallery. ( click here )
I just downloaded and installed it in under an hour.
It is totally free (they don't even ask for an EMail address), works with PHP and looks good.

Click here to see the one I have just setup quickly.

Mick can you investigate how difficult it would be to move our gallery to Gallery v1.3.4. I also nominate you as the future gallery admin

Phil
I don't think it would be too difficult to make the change from what you use at the moment to Gallery v1.3.4

I think the best way to do it would be to ask the members that already have albums in the existing gallery to migrate them over personally. I.e... the admin of Gallery 1.3.4 would make new albums for each member with thier screen name, then the user would re-add thier pictures.
Or an admin could copy the existing pictures over if this was required. Quite easy just time consuming.

Click here to see demo of a partly copied album..You can play around as much as you want with this gallery. I have only set it up to muck around with and to test the feasability of RS246 using it....

Security wise, only admins can add albums but anyone can add photos to any album. This might not be ideal but it appears to work on TSN ok. If it was found that this was being abused, then the Gallery could be totally administrated by an errr.... administrator like on AS.net

What ya'll think?

Ok John.
No worries. Wouldn't mind doing the gallery admin if nobody else wants to. Be cool to actually putting something back into the site for a change instead of just hovering around surfing all the time

Phil will need to have a look around in the test gallery to see if it is suitable for your needs. Knowing Phil he'll probably find something wrong with it! No worries Phil...

I'm playing with it anyway. I'll be using it on my site as soon as you have finished with it.
This is a good way to test it
