Front subframe to be replaced
Front subframe to be replaced
Okay following my creaking post the dealership have located the creaking to the front subframe and say that they think there is a very slight movement that is causing the creaking. This sounded like a big job but after doing a bit of research it seems that its just a few bolts, mark for realignment purposes and replace. Is there anything I should check that they have done before I accept it back.?
Would it have been better if 72 people posted apologies for not knowing how to establish whether a front subframe has been successfully realigned?
It's certinly beyond me. I passed on replying as I'm afraid my current limit is working out how the hell to use my on-board computer thingy!
Good luck in your quest - sounds like a real bummer...

now now.... frame has locating dowls in it which fit into chassis as well as bolts, so it should go back where it came from, a readout of wheel gyometry once done should confirm the wheels are in the correct place and would be manditory if suspension is disturbed. Had same discussion with Porsche dealers who just changed a bottom arm on 996t, they were not going to check alignment after doing the job....... they are now.

How did you get on with returning the car?ARSEY4 wrote:Oh dear. Dealer phoned to say that subframe went on but the noise still there. I have asked them to send the car back to Audi and order a new one.

The dealer is stalling at the moment, I was supposed to get a call from the after sales top brass but that has not happened. They have left it till quite late today to call and said that they think they have located it and that they will ring back tonight. i know what they are doing and if they can fix it by tommorow then fine. I have not started paying for the car yet so worst case scenario I hand it back, cancel the dd and argue the toss then. I would expect them to be rushing around trying their best to get it done asap as they can only make out the after sales guy is busy for so long. today is really the last night for me, if they cant locate it in 7 days then they never will.
What gets me about all these "teething troubles" with new cars i get the impression dealers are just guessing changing parts willy nilly.
Surely there r tecnical boffins at Audi whom they can check with afterall the problems we have encountered r not isolated ones.
Seems to me lack of communication,i am on my first audi and the whole exerience from buying to servicing/warrenty work etc has been crap to say the least compared to other "premium brands" imo
Which is a shame as i like the damn thing!!!!!!!!
