Brake caliper overhaul/repaint etc

Post by stephenrs2 » Mon May 07, 2007 4:39 pm

Guys,

I am also part of a 928 forum. One of hte discussions we are having is about refurbishing brake calipers through a UK Porsche specialist. I've seen photos of the work (link attached) http://www.928.org.uk/content/view/164/119/

My idea is to contact them with a view to a group discount, if there is enough interest. I'll make some calls if you let me know what level of interest there is.

Regards
Steve

Steve
I do most things to cars and race cars.
I just did my calipers recently. Removed the pad plates and blasted all corrosion away, lots of two pack primer/flatting, then on with the brembo red, next "Porsche" emblems and three coats of lacquer to finish off!
As for the finish I used to paint Aston Martins for a living, so I do know what I'm doing!

Let me know if you need yours doing,
Rob

When you say refurbish, is that for the painting or do they renew the seals as well, if it includes the seals I would be interested, Rob did you renew any parts in your refurb,
:?

this was inclusive of parts. However the job done by Rob looks far superior so would prefer to go down this route if he can confirm the parts inclusion.

I am in Leeds,
I renewed the pad plates, I wouldn't do next time, they are stainless, they need to come off to blast off the corrosion behind. New bolts for the refit of the plates (plenty of grease on threads!) new Brembo bleed nipples (all others go rust in seconds!).
I can turn a pair around in a week,
HTH

Rob, just brousing on the RS2 bit and found this thread..... could you do RS4 B5 calipers as well please?

my girlfriends family is in Leeds which is handy by the look of it:) how long would you need the calipers for and would you do the rear ones as well? could you give me a ball park cost please, ta

the RS is misano red so it would be great to have red calipers also..... your handy work looks excellent and as you say, being an Aston Martin coach painter I would be delightted to have it done by "someone who knows what they're doing" unquote you
