RE: Where did it break?

Post by S4TAN » Mon May 07, 2007 8:20 pm

I didn't have to remove a bar when i fitted my DTS - just had to remove the 2 triangular plates that supported the transmission suspension on each side of the car ... I've got a black bar that sits a few inches forward of where the DTS goes, but i think that's just some kind of brace and doesn't need removing (and it doesn't support the transmission either)...

... did you have some kind of OEM DTS then Clive ???

P.S. "bummer tied to a tree" is a reference to a popular old gag from school (from around 30 years ago!) - sorry, couldn't resist

There was a couple of close moments with S4TAN's rubber bush and tree bumming but as you mention the gimp suit CliveH .................

No Jules, it's just the way I remember it, and as it looks in the AWE instructions, but from what everyone says it seems like the transmission has more support than it did before (OEM setup), but I'll look into the welding idea.

Well, not to highjack this thread - but yeah worthwhile, it removes virtually all of the slop out of the driveline.

Feels better and arguably better for the various mounting points / bushes of the gearbox, props, diffs etc.

So it was down, but sticking up enough to foul your DTS? In that case either your car is really low or whoever is responsible for that post has a strange definition of 'down'. Any chance of claiming compensation?

@Dippy - yes, fully down, but then the parking space dipped down so I guess the "angle of entry" didn't help. My car is lowered by about 30mm on H&R coilovers.

errm, as for compensation - yes I am considering this...interestingly enough the parking spot and post are owned by a firm of solicitors...

Don't remind me, my car got stuck as well. I blame the tuner who fitted the exhaust. Anyone know who that was :)

Yeah, thats what we did on the way back Ash, cheers.

Getting the car off was worse than putting it on, the guy (most helpful to be fair) found us in the line and was putting traffic cones under the wheels to get the clearance. The sound was still painful, I can hear it now

Clive won fair and square here though :thumb:
