Great, you could do it at Santa Pod Sun 20/05 or on the next ring trip.
Whatever, be sure to update the masses please

Re: RE: Re: RE: Setting up B7 for track use
Umm, good point. Your car is stage 3, so it has stage 1, 2 also. What can we do to the B7 as there doesn't seem to be any stage 1, 2 or 3. So I would imagine that our equivelent of your stage 3 is an MTM charger? Wouldn't you agree?dace wrote:I was not debating anything....just advising Varsity that if he were to go on track and a B5 was around then be prepared to move out of the way.RI_RS4 wrote:Dace, Stock for Stock the B7 would outperform the B5. That's really not up for debate, now is it?
I agree that a well sorted stage iii B5 would beat a stock B7 on the track. But then we're not comparing apples to apples, are we? At that point we might want to compare the B5 stage iii to a b7 with an MTM supercharger, whenever that comes off of Unobtainium and Unavailabilium status.
No debate, no jealousy, just fact........
Oh and the MTM supercharger comes in at 14,000 GBP. That is hardly comparing apples with apples is it?
I do believe with the right driver in each car, with the setup done properly the will be very little in it.
Its also interesting that this seems to be the view of most others I have met who have owned both cars, and as Simple1 says, he still owns both and he agrees.
In the meantime any other constructive views or comments on the setup of the B7 would be apreciated.

Varisty, best suspension upgrade bar none is the Stasis Tracksport suspension, which uses Ohlin dampers, same as used on the Stasis A4 raced here in the US, and same damper type used on the R10 Audi LeMans car. Stasis designed this suspension and tested it specifically for racing and road use.

Quite a few racers and drivers here in the US swear by it. At your exchange rate, it should be an exceptional deal.
2nd best is probably the KW Variant 3 coilovers

My 300C SRT-8 has the KW Variant 2 suspenion on it and it is awesome. Helped with Hotchkiss ARB of course. The car actually goes around corners now.
Will see what anyone says here first, but will look into it thanks.

David, can you translate the expression "Chalk and Cheese" for someone who's native language is not English? I'm a damn American.
And yes, those who have the Stasis Tracksport suspension over here rave about it, like their in a cult. Quite a few have dumped the DRC for Stasis right after delivery of their cars, and quite a few race competitively with the suspension. Here's what Stasis says about it, and that is backed up by countless user testimonials.
BTW, I have zero interest in Stasis, and do not have the system installed myself ... possibly in the future, though.
"Plain and simple. The Ohlins/Stasis system provides significantly flatter, more predictable and more controlled handling. Also, the ride quality is much improved from the DRC system. This was most welcome and surprising given the increased spring rates! It would have been easy for Audi to give us something better, but they took the less expensive route with the RS6 and RS4. The Euro "Sport Suspension" option would have been more appropriate for this car, but I think it's nothing more than stiffer springs judging by the 500.00 GBP price. Plus, you'd still have the possibility of leaking shocks down the road (no pun intended)." - http://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/21527.phtml
Our exceptionally advanced Ohlins based Motor Sport suspension melds the flattest and most controlled ride with the comfort and street feel that your stock suspension has now. There truly is no other suspension product on the market that is close to this level of performance and comfort all in one package. The Ohlins damper features multiple channels internally, a low speed system handles all of your loading forces such as roll, pitch and yaw while a high speed system handles road irregularities such as potholes, train tracks and anything that requires fast response of your suspension components to keep the car settled and comfortable. The Ohlins dampers also feature a large range of adjustment, this includes low speed compression and rebound front and rear plus high speed compression in the front where it matters most for ride comfort. What does all of this mean to you as a driver, complete control out on the street and the track if you decide to attend driver's training events. The suspension has an exceptional street manner while providing the flattest most controlled ride for your RS4.

I am more than happy for you to provide a set for testing here in the UK?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Setting up B7 for track use
Yes, sure, chalk and cheese as in opposites.
The H&R coilovers are a good upgrade in terms of performance over standard B5 S4 & RS4 suspension. Also decent value for money IMO. I've no experience of the B7 RS4 on Stasis suspension.
The Stasis on the B5 RS4 was a big step up from that, even though I was only a passenger. The car was very low and set very stiff but for track use, it was stunning. I'm no expert but planted is the word I would use. Riding kerbs and bumps on the track did not seem to worry it much and I expect the differences would be much more obvious from the driving seat too.
Not sure how the drive home was though
firm ride I expect.

Agreed. But I have come from Stage1 S2 to Stage3/4 B5 S4 to B6 S4 to B7 RS4.simple1 wrote:just to put a stop to this tittle tattle..... as most know, I still own both, my B5 is circa 450 bhp, and a few other add ons, my B7 is standard. Over the same bit of road, the B7 is far quicker although the B5 feels quicker. Cornering speed in the B7 is where the car wins, plus its tame power delivery compared to the B5.. as I cant race myself, and this creates a question about driver skills, I would still say the B7 is the quicker car.
