Setting up B7 for track use
Setting up B7 for track use
Has anyone set up a B7 specifically for track use?
Are there any camber or tow (toe) adjustments available for better track day use?
18" or 19" wheels tyres and if so which ones?
Changes to the standard RS4 brakes?
Would love to hear from anyone who has completed any changes and seen a difference.

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Oh be very careful there are no B5's about, when you go out on track.
You will have to keep that right indicator on and mooooove out of the way!

Audi and most tyre manufacturers state 97Y for the RS4, Pilot Cups don't reach that standard. So what do your tryes spec at? Are they 18" or 19".sykotoy wrote:I put michilen pilot cups on the stock wheels....they r sweet.

sykotoy - please put some pics up when the cars lowered. Can't wait to see.
RE: Re: RE: Setting up B7 for track use
Ref the brakes, i run the RS4 (B7) setup on my S4 (B6) Same weight if not slightly heavier) and i find that on track DS2500's are a far better pad to use and they are a good all-rounder pad.
Ref tyres, have you thought about the yokohama A-048's, a semi slick road legal tyre (if your running 18's - 235-40-18)
I find them to be a good tyre, less hassel than running full slicks.
Ohh, and skyotoy's link is that the bootom of the post
the tab with the WWW on it, but for the lazy of you :

Dace, Stock for Stock the B7 would outperform the B5. That's really not up for debate, now is it?
I agree that a well sorted stage iii B5 would beat a stock B7 on the track. But then we're not comparing apples to apples, are we? At that point we might want to compare the B5 stage iii to a b7 with an MTM supercharger, whenever that comes off of Unobtainium and Unavailabilium status.

Varisty
Ferodo DS2500 pads in front, and change to a high temperature brake fluid. This will get rid of brake fade after a few laps.
If you're running 18" rims, then you might go with a Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07. It's available in a 255/40ZR18 size, and will provide more grip than any of the stock tires.

I was not debating anything....just advising Varsity that if he were to go on track and a B5 was around then be prepared to move out of the way.RI_RS4 wrote:Dace, Stock for Stock the B7 would outperform the B5. That's really not up for debate, now is it?

No debate, no jealousy, just fact........
Oh and the MTM supercharger comes in at 14,000 GBP. That is hardly comparing apples with apples is it?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Setting up B7 for track use
Fact only for a modified B5. Not fact for stock. Once you decide to modify the stock vehicle I was not aware that there were any limits.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Setting up B7 for track use
just to put a stop to this tittle tattle..... as most know, I still own both, my B5 is circa 450 bhp, and a few other add ons, my B7 is standard. Over the same bit of road, the B7 is far quicker although the B5 feels quicker. Cornering speed in the B7 is where the car wins, plus its tame power delivery compared to the B5.. as I cant race myself, and this creates a question about driver skills, I would still say the B7 is the quicker car.
