Jeez, rare it maybe, but only a mother could love that. This was for sale for about a year in the classifieds of Classic Car some time ago. Think it was up for high teens.

the only right handed example, for fiesta money that's just a bargain even if it has been severely lashed with a branch from the ugly tree

You'd need a balaclava (had to google it to spell it right).

Methinks a festa would be a tad cheaper to insure and fix. I bet it's got monster scuttle-shake. Stick to the S4 Dave, a bit more subtle.

i shall be, but i do remember seeing one of these in performance car waaaaaaaaaaay back and being mightily impressed by the (then) futuristic looks, just goes to show how wrong you can be when you're young and foolish

LMAO, you just told me that you're as old as me Dave. That's a bit spooky though, my old man's been banging on about clearing all those old mags out of his house, so I picked a load up a month or so ago. You can guess what was in the bundle. Performance Car, October 1984, 'Open Top Outrage' it states in big letters. You’re not wrong there. Also in that mag, 'MG Montego and '85 astra GTE Full Performance Tests'

I'm no magazine collector or seller, but it's great to look back at the performance car world 20 plus years ago. Some of those old Kat, Zender, Richard Grant kits for the XR3 and the like were shocking. Back in those days, if you wanted more power, you bolted a turbo on.

Maybe I should keep an eye on who buys the one on ebay and then offer him the mag.

I know this car - I've been in it! - It belonged to a mate of mine in Northern Ireland before this chap bought it. My mate bought it from a classic car auction a couple of years ago.

I know the looks are an "aquired taste" but with 250bhp it went well for a ur. One thing in particular that spoiled it, was the fact that the car was originally in metallic blue (possibly Lago Blue) and this was evident under the hood. This must have de-valued it somewhat. Only 27k miles though, it's got to be a bargain for such a rare one off.
