Air filter and springs

Post by TDiAvant » Sun Apr 29, 2007 10:18 pm

Hi Guy's, first real post on this site, and wondered if you could help with some modification's I'm looking at. I've already had a milltek system fitted, 200 cell cats & cat back.

I was talking to the chap's at milltek during Autometrix track day at croft and they recommend replacing the std air filter setup with a Cold Air setup. I'm also thinking of replacing the std spring with h&r's. I was thinking about getting spring done via awesome gti, as I've had one good recommendation just looking for another.

Not sure I would change just the springs, matched dampers are often needed to control the extra spring forces. The ride is very well controled on the V8 as standard far better than the old model S4. I would look at a set of anti roll bars first. Fitted the RS4 H+R`s to my V8 hack about as good as you need for the road.

I think the air filter on the V8 flows very well, with plenty of fresh air directed in. The only issue is the pre filter in the pipe to airbox, this often has a few leaves and crud in.

Have a chat with the chaps at Awsome about the APR ECU re-map, three maps installed stock, unleaded and super unleaded (removed the top speed limit and ups the rev limit). With the bonus of switching/changing the maps through the cruise control. I installed this a few weeks back, into my hack, very pleased with the result.
