Launching - how best too?

Post by tartan_rob » Thu Apr 26, 2007 11:28 am

Like the subject header says.

I always end up kangarooing like a complete novice and I'm not talking about drag strip launching, but simple getting off the lights quickly.

as they say practice makes perfect. a healthy dab of revs and feed that clutch in smoothly and fast...
Make sure your seat is setup correct too, if you are stretching for the bite point that will cause the afore mentioned hopping....

Probably, but he hands the keys back at the end of the day and doesn't have to worry about the clutch etc.

I have found that changing @ 7900 gets back into the torque again as opposed to wringing the neck out of it (although I do that too sometimes). When I have checked back at videos of my speedo doing so, it is quicker changing up at the aforementioned 7900!!!

ESP off, 4500+ RPM, slide foot left off clutch petal

You want to be careful about engaging gradually at all, as you risk frying the clutch plates.

You also want to be sure that the owners manual is well wedged in it's special spot under the steering wheel. I pack mine full of extra papers from servicing. Otherwise, you'll get quite a surprise during launch when the manual flies into your lap and hits you in the knees!

I'm not sure I can bring myself to side step off the clutch, all that power trasnferring so quickly...nervous I damage something. I was the same with the B5 S4.
