Quantum Synta Gold

Post by Jarv » Tue Apr 24, 2007 5:21 pm

Thought I'd try to get hold of some Quantum Synta Gold 5w 40 for my next 5k oil change, as a lot of forum members have said that they use it. I can't seem to be able to find it anywhere.

GSF mail-order took my payment for 10 litres and then phoned me back to say they didn't have any and so gave me a refund. I then called up my local GSF store and they said that they don't sell it any more, but they did have an equivalent 5W 40 synthetic oil that was £15.20 for 5 litres. Can't remember what it was called, but appreared too cheap to be any good.

Any ideas where I can hold of the gold stuff?

Cheers
Mike

That's what I thought. I phoned Whetstone Audi, my local dealer, and they said they could only supply the Silver. I don't know what the difference is between Gold and Silver, but I'm sure it's Gold that I need.

I reckon I'll phone around my local VW dealers tomorrow to see if they've got any.

Cheers for the advice guys.

Good advice dace.

15 litres of the gold nectar purchased from a local VW dealer and sitting in the back of the car. I went a bit mad, I was getting 10 litres and the smooth talking man behind the counter convinced me to buy his last 5 litre bottle. I guess that will cover two changes.

As has been said stick to Gold. The Silver is 10W40 Semi synthetic AFAIK

I can't see VAG discontinuing SG, as this sells well, unless Longlife oil is taking over(?)
