Very few residential broadband users have static IP mappings on DHCP servers david7m! They're normally assigned on a short lease basis - (4 hours is the usual address lease time - dependent on your ISP's IP address usage policy of course) - if you turn your PC off you will relinquish that address and it goes back into the "available" pool ...
