I've just read this is the venue Mazda use for their training day if you buy a RX-8 or an MX5 and also is/was used for M3 CSL purchasers.

I'm referring to whether or not I can get and pay for extra track-day cover with my insurer. My present insurer allows this, but if ND find me a cheaper one which doesn't then it will have an impact.DavidT wrote:I don't think you will have any insurance regardless of who you renew with Dave. Its not an organised 'recognised' trackday so it counts as use off the public highway = no insurance.Dippy wrote:I'm up for it, but need to confirm insurance cover first (my insurance is up for renewal at the end of this month).

I'm on the fence with this since the comments of potential mechanical disruption to an RS6. Those who have done this in an RS6, given the choice would you do it again in an RS6?

The RS4 isn't the one I need to get comfortable with.... I've done over 100,000 miles in it, and God knows how many track days. Although, that being said it might be the better option.

Doh! I just remembered I took this video of when I was there.
Might be interesting for you who fancy the skid pan. I believe they've got a bigger circular one as well now.

Great! Looks like that is really going to be fun. There is a curcular one too. I feel the circular one could be addictive!
I basically had a situation like that on the road, hit a v. greasy patch of road just as I was hitting peak torque in 2nd on full throttle. I' much rather my next expereince of that to be on the testing ground under instruction.
Very few oppertunites to get your own car on a wet pan like that. Most are either slimey surface or cars on jigs, neither of which you can take your own car on.
I think you should give Carolyn a call Phil and talk any concerns through and perhaps discuss how the tighter circuit instruction can be to the benfit of the larger cars attending the day. The sign up!

I attended this course last Tuesday - they do have a circular one but I found the longer wet course-stretch to be of better use - zig-zagging down it was not easy to begin with with plenty of 360 turns until I got the hang of it but I have a RWD CSL so you may find the circular one better with 4WD!
The smaller tighter circuit does not benefit larger cars but it was still worth doing. The longer faster airfield circuit was OK - typical of a track - just watch out for the pheasants!
A good day with plenty of differing activities to challenge with good instruction. Me and another CSL owner received instruction from Jamie Wall and Ben Collins was hooning around the place too.
