brake issue

I have a brake problem - red warning light came on and stays on - brake pedal motion has gone from being very smooth to what I can only describe as notchity almost like the pedal is sticking as it goes down - while the brakes still work something is seriously wrong . Had a new bomb fitted a couple of weeks ago as the previous one had failed

Any ideas ??
