May be just me, but I think the A5 shape will work a whole lot better when they chop the roof off it to create the upcoming cabriolet.

Just got back from the Geneva Motor Show and saw the A5 and S5 in the flesh. Looks really nice, but the standard A5 looked a little bland for me. Too much like the new 3 Series Coupe. Would have been nice to see a bit more design flair like the new TT. The interior was the usual high quality and good design. The S5 did look good though, especially on the 19" wheels. Graham

According to a contact at a dealership, no. Completely new.

Power is up to 354 bhp (FSI 4.2), 0 - 62 mph listed as 5.1 secs (rather than 5.6 for the B6/7 S4). Standard spec includes 19" alloys, full leather, daytime running lights. OTR price a shade under 40k
You're quite right, this will be on the B8 platform, which the next A4 will also utilise.

We will fix the forum link shortly (i.e. remove the ??)

I think its a pity that the A5 is a watered down Nuvolari. From a distance I bet you will struggle to separate it from a new S3 from the front and the A4 from the back...but at 40k plus for the S5 I think is a pi55 take!!

The cabrio and the S5/ RS5 would be a great car but thats still to come, but to me its over priced as Audi are these days!!
so all those folk shelling out 45k plus must have more money than sense, drive it out the showroom and you loose a tad under 9 GRAND in VAT give or take a bit!! Give it a year and lose another 7-8k... 3 years later its a 45k car for the mid 20k's makes more sense now.

45k would buy you a nice Porker Carrera instead or a year old B7 RS4?

Couldn't resist having a very quick and dirty play in Photoshop, so see what an A5 cabrio would look like.

Think I like it.....

Thanks James, that does look good.

Is it me, or has it a slight BMW 3 series look to it ?

the A5 rear quatrter view has a very similar profile to the Merc CLK... anyone else see it that way?
