Help needed!!!
Help needed!!!
Gents,
Today, I discovered my water bottle for the windscreen washers has sprung a leak. Filled it up today and could visibly see the water line going south. After a minute or two a large stream of water developed from the underside of the car and made its way down the garage forecourt.
Any ideas as to whether this be just a loose tube or is the holder knackered?.
Any insight how i go around fixing the bugger, will be appreciated!!!
Cheers...Jem

Re: Help needed!!!
The bottle is actually inside the passenger front wheel well. I'm sure if you remove the cowling over the wheel you can get to the bottle.
Perhaps the pump has fallen out or something, I doubt if the actual bottle has split, they seem to be pretty robust.

Re: Help needed!!!
This happens often on cars with headlamp washers. The jet pressure is very high, and any blockages can cause the pipes to pop off. I used to get it on my Golf, and the previous owner of my S4 had it happen.
Re: Help needed!!!
Jem,
As others have noted, this is a common problem on the S4 (maybe earlier models?). When I subscribed to US forums, it was clear that it would happen to every US S4 at some time. Clearly it's some sort of design problem.
Chase it up with a dealer - if there was a known problem then you should be able to get it done FOC.

Re: Help needed!!!
Thanks chaps.
Phoned my local dealer up and was advised that this is not a known problem and therefore is not covered under a re-call etc.
However, out of curiousity I asked if they could give me a quote on a extended warranty, and was quoted a price of £540.50 all in for a year.
Now begs the question. Is this a fair price for a dose of peace of mind (can't help but need to feel that torque, very addictive) and could have my water problem sorted under warranty to boot!!
Your thoughts please

Re: Help needed!!!
£540 sounds like a deal. Mine cost £765 ! Is yours currently in warranty so you are just extending, as mine had lapsed for three months ?
Regarding the leak, that most certainly should be a warranty job. It was fixed as such on my Golf and my S4. And for the dealer to say it is not a known problem is odd. My dealer new immediately where to look. I mentioned this to my Father last night, and he had the same problem on his a couple of months ago. He just got under there himself and fixed it - you just remove the wheel arch liner and there it is !
Good luck

Hi Carps....warranty ran out March 2002, and the price quoted is for a car under 5 years aged with less than 100k on the clock and engine size is between 2.4 - 3.0litre.
If the price is right (information should arrive in the post today or tomorrow) and the chap at the dealer did not quote for the wrong car (advised him on three occasions this is for a 2.7 bi-turboed car) then I'll go for it. Not only for the water bottle, but also for the gearbox, as when engaged in reverse and then trying to engage first, the car still thinks its in reverse .....have had a couple of close shaves recently!!...only started doing this soon after the G-Force meet (you alright Karl )
So hopefully, I can get me gearbox sorted as well as me water bottle to boot

Biturbo...along with your new turbo's, looks as though Audi have built you a new car for nothing under warranty, so you could claim your car is a 2002/2003 model
How do you do it?, have you got a understanding dealer? or do you just refuse to leave the premises?. Need to know how to play it with my local dealer

Re: Help needed!!!
gearbox
clutch
flywheel
manifolds
turbos
rear suspension
washer pump
driver's door to coachworks to fit properly
rear speaker
I can't think of anything else at the moment
I am guessing a total of £12-13k.
A very good dealer. I've been with them for over 5 years and I have never had a problem with them for servicing/warranty work.
Although Phil Oliver knows me by name now

The issue is mods - if you think you are going to have some. There are dealers that will provide extended warranty to include mods too (but only if done via the dealer).

But would this not add to the cost?. If you go down the Revo route would you need to tell them?....Biturbo?

I'm sure he does - bet they'll sh*t themselves when you get an RS4 or similar
