Widebody Conversion...

Post by MarkB » Sat Mar 24, 2007 2:35 pm

As much as I'd love to buy a B5 RS4 I don't have a need for an Avant. Having seen a few widebody saloons they do look sooo goood.

Is there any kits that can be bought to do it or is the only way by using original RS4 panels?

Mark for the amount of money you'd spend on a wide body conversion, K04/3 hybrid conversion plus all the extra bits I know you are going to spend on ;) you can have yourself an RS4. No need to justify whether you need an Avant or not - the plain truth of it is the Avants look damned hard... in fact one of the hardest looking cars out there :D

Plus it's better to have an Avant and not need one, than to need an Avant and not have one ;) (I really have to stop modifying this line to suit all topics)
01 RS4, Milltek, Dahlback Racing rears, RS6 fronts and a few bits to be added.

Also, as I hate driving, my toy to play with - a Honda CBR F Sport

I also run a [wisper mode on] BMW [wisper mode off] Touring so I DON'T need an Estate.

Wide Body saloons look even harder ;) and if I did this I would be keeping the car for far longer so may also do full K04's

Love the air intakes on the front bumper. I have bumper lust. And lack of cash, of course. Current money is being saved for brake. Alas, my rears need replacing :(

What is involved in a widebody conversion, exactly, anyway?

Its my car, but I did not damage it as such, I just grounded it out and broke a turbo, so it was not an actual crash...

Well, the bonnet, wings and bumper went on easy enough, I also needed 4 new doors due to mine not being a facelift model and mould in with the new rear quarter panels.

Skirts went on,they then had to cut the rear quater panels off, get some new RS4 ones and cut them, then weld them in place ... how he did this is beyond me, its looks perfect, you can't even see the join! amazing stuff...

There was quite a lot of labour involved including a respray. He said he would never do it again! lol, but I am sure he would
