Dave you started to tempt me again, so I just rang my insurer to confirm I woudl still have 3rd party liability etc and they so "no cover at all"!!

i have asked them to doubly confirm with the underwriters as i said they doesnt sound right - they also said "no insurer will etc etc"

they will call me back but if no 3rd party then its 100% no go as that would be breaking German laws

I'm waiting for absolute confirmation of that too Duncan, but I can't see how they can refuse you third party cover, not without prior written confirmation. This is only IF you have told them first because it seems there is a duty of disclosure here, at least the insurers I've spoken to say there is, but then they would :)

They confirmed "no cover whatsoever" - which I still think is a bit suspect but I cant really argue with them...All this from an insurer who in Feb said I was covered.

I am afraid I have to knock it on the head :(

I am actually chasing my eurotunnel fee with the insurer as they told me I was covered, and they are going to find the telephone conversation as they are all recorded allegedly.

Dunc :(

pm me and I'll email it too you.

I may have a lead on insurance as well.....watch this space. It's not going to be cheap around £200 for the 3 days.

OK....insurance info.

My friend (who works for a Lloyds of London syndicate) will cover the 3 days (Saturday PM, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday AM) for accidental damage on the Ring (not third party damage of any kind) for £20 per '000 with a 10% excess....As an example if you wanted £10000 cover it would cost £200 with a £1000 excess. You don't have to ensure the full value of the car but the maximum payout will be the sum insured minus the excess.

Let me know if anyone wants the form.

What is the ADAC form you mentioned before Jeff? Also is the above insurance covering you from a german legal standpoint?

The ADAC form is the German equivalent of the AA who will recover vehicles from the Ring. If you break down or crash it will cost 200 Euro to get your car recovered .....ADAC is 44 Euro for the year.

The Insurance mentioned is strictly 'Track Day' cover rather than road legal insurance.
