Rich, if Jacob still has the peice of metal it could help with a bit of detective work, i.e. what type would be interesting to know. Also asking your mech to do a leakdown test is a great idea before you go any further with this. Hopefuly ( :( ) it has come from your exhaust manifold and you can get on with the job in hand.

I have been to see the garage, he has the manifolds off, and the sides are obviously black with exhaust gases, but he could see nothing to suggest a piece of metal has gone through them, ie, a nick at the side etc ... he has looked all over and can't find any evidence.

I had a bump in the car a year ago, and we had to re con one of the turbo’s, so, maybe at that point a foreign object got into the turbo and has been there since?!?!

I need to see what Jacob thinks about these cracks in the housing … it would kill me to put it all back together only to find the crack grows and kills the turbos again in a few months time …

You know that sounds like a real long shot don't you...

Have you managed to find out what the peice of metal is, steel, ally?

That's good news! I thought they maybe looked like blade tips but it's so hard to say...

Good news Rich, do you know what caused the wheel to break up?

We are still thinking that when the car grounded out the shock has travelled up the exhaust and unbalanced a spooling up turbo and its just killed itself when the blades have hit the sides etc.

Are you going to raise your suspension so you don't do it again? I bet you'll take that corner a little slower for a while... :?

I might ask the garage, but I think we are confident with the compression test etc that everything is ok with the engine....

Not sure about the suspension, I think its ok, it was just unfortunate I think.. I mean, there is another part of the course where the whole car takes off, at the right speed 8)

That all depends, I will probably take it a little slower, but if I have that bike in my cross hairs (which, TT and summer coming up is going to happen a lot now!) I may not be able to!!!! :P

Looking forward to hearing your car is coming together again.
What was the compression across the cylinders for reference?
