VED Rating

Post by davidfox123 » Wed Mar 21, 2007 9:22 pm

Antbody got their V5 handy, what band is an RS6? I assume it is band G? That means we'll be paying £400 pa soon. Whoopee! What the hell at 18 mpg on Super Unleaded it hardly makes any difference on a cost per mile basis. Why do they think this will make is all go green?

Of course its off the Richter scale... Increase to £300 next year first I believe and then £400 thereafter.

No chance they'll force the agenda financially, what is worst is that public transport (old buses and rail stock) pollute far more than modern motors.
Present:...

I think, and I may be wrong here, that we are in band F, which is for cars over 185 g/km and currently costs £205 for the year. Band G, for cars over 225 g/km is only applicable to cars registered after 23 March 2006 and now costs £300.

BTW ... RS6 smokes out 350 g/km (gulp !) :drink:

Why oh why they don't just stick the road tax on fuel I don't know! The more you use, the more you pay! Simple!

Scrap the screen tax disc and replace it with an MOT disc.

I guess they want to try and stop us having too many cars, but then you can only drive them one at a time...

It would capture all the older guzzlers but at least it would be fair.

But Mark..by doing that makes the administration of the system so easy and therefore you lose 1,000's of civil service jobs and then the jobsworths wont be able to look for out of date tax discs.

In addition don't forget that by sticking it on fuel you'll encourange more drive offs and possibly infringe the human rights of scumbags to not have the option to not pay their road tax.
