Norfolk (Norwich) Servicing for an S4

Post by marks » Tue Mar 20, 2007 6:40 pm

Afternoon all,

My B5 Avant is due an annual service. As this is the first one i have had during my ownership and I am unsure where to go. I took my old car (vr6) to NVWC but they don't how much it will cost as they don't have any info on that car, kind of puts me off a little initially. I am loathed to go to Robinson's and both times I have attempted to get through to them today I have been cut off.

Thus can any of you local people point me in the direction of someone/where who has the knowledge and won't offend my bank manager.

Thanks in advance

Mark

This is also a dilemna i often suffer but i just say sod it and take a run up to MRC. I know its a 6 hour round trip but you know its value for money and in good hands. Is NVWC the Audi VW "specialist" near comet's on the ring round.

Scottyboy, yes it is.
They were always great when I had issues with my Golf, friendly, quick and seemingly educated.

When I rang yesterday though they admitted that they knew very little about S and RS models. At least they were honest though which I admire.

I know MRC would make the most sense but as you say it would mean a whole day out just for a service, and whilst there I'd probably end up parting with a remap etc. Only Bicester village would be a sweetener for my better half.

That's good that they were honest that answers my questions about them also as i was going to pop in next time i was passing.MRC is a whole day but its probably the most important day of the year in respect of the car's health. I always go on my own personally i like to watch Doug at work, i find it educational and you always remember some little niggle that you wouldnt always remember whilst having your ear bent down the local shopping centre by the missus  . Make the trip worth your while and have the re-map also, the journey home wont be as long believe me.

I take my S4 B5 to my mate in Horsford. He knows his cars well, particularly VW's. I get him to do all my minor stuff, such as servicing, oil, filters, brake fluid etc. He has also fitted my H+R ARB's, changed over wishbones and fixed a broken window arm etc. He has a snap on diagnostic kit, which appears to show any fault codes that VAGCOM shows. Anything major, such as cambelt, cusom remap etc, then I jump in and enjoy the ride to MRC.

If you want his details let me know. He really is very good.

regards

kevin

So do i Kevin, although this is only Robinsons Audi i refer to. I dealt with Robinsons VW for a couple of years and the difference between them and Audi is staggering,Robinsons VW were the most helpful, friendliest people i have dealt with but dont get me started on Robinsons body shop at Robinsons Mercedes what a bunch of useless tossers they are.

Kevin,
Thanks for that.

I will be looking into to doing this next week. If I don't/can't justify a blast down to MRC I shall PM you for that number.

I found Robinsons VW very useful and my dad has a Superb( ) and says that the Skoda arm is impressive. Shame the Audi division has the best cars but the biggest goons employed.

Thanks as ever for your thoughts.

Hi All,

I will be taking delivery of an RS6 in two weeks time and I was planning to get Robinsons Audi to do the cam belt who quoted me a reasonable price but reading the thread it would appear there is not a lot of love for them.

Any specific problems you have had?

Yelverton garage just outside Norwich on the Lowestoft road. The guy specialises in Audi's and has been working on them since the days of the UR. He's a real enthusiast. I'd suggest these guys for the 'normal' day to day maintenance, but for anything else go to MRC.

For me Robinsons have proven to be very competative for servicing, but after recently going to MRC it was discovered that I've paid for work that was never carried out, so it was no wonder the services were so bloody cheap.

I now take the 6hr round trip to MRC but its worth it, i have recently had my cambelt done by Doug and you feel a lot happier sitting watching him do it. He will also do a health check on the car while you are there which is worth the journey alone.

You could always try Clive Attowe.. follow the link

http://www.enginetuning.net/

I've never used him but I know people who have. Looks like there could be enough locals to have a rolling road day!
