Time to replace all 4 tyres on my 2003 V8 S4. Currently have Continental Sport Contact 2's on the rear and Dunlop SP Sport 9000's on the front (nothing to do with me - they were on the car when I bought it!). Anyone know what's standard fitment, or have any recommendations for something better please? Car is just used for spirited road use - no track days.
Read a couple of good reviews for the Goodyear F1's. Seriously considering going for these. Anyone using them or used them before?
Also, I've noticed quite a lot of road noise at around 70mph on certain surfaces. Is this to be expected, or could it be something to do with the choice of tyres?
Cheers

RE: S4 Tyres
I had the conti's all round, terrible road noise !
Switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's with extra load side wall's and they're a good tyre so far. Less road noise, not silent but better than previous fitment.
Turn-in's alot sharper and grip in both wet and dry conditions is good also - all round a good tyre IMO.

RE: S4 Tyres
Currently have F1's fitted. Good all round tyre. Some road noise but not half as bad as the Conti's. If you do go for these makes sure you give them about 300 miles to bed in befre you start giving them the beans. They can be a bit leary when new.
RE: S4 Tyres
I have just had a set of F1 tyres fitted and agree with the bedding in comments, almost thought winter had returned and all the roads were coated in ice again for the first few hundred miles.
The road noise between the F1's and the conti's is stunning, the F1's are so much quiter that using hands free has become a pleasure again
What is the best pressure to run these at? as RSR tyres whom fitted them have said to run them at 32PSI and I am sure that the petrol flap on the car says to run them at nearer 40PSI?

RE: S4 Tyres
Funnily enough, i've just had 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 fitted today, after the fronts had worn down to nearly the wear indicators and the missus managed to take a chunck out of the rim protector on one of the back ones! Haven't managed to drive them much yet (only back from the garage!) but they already seem quieter than the Conti's that were on there before.
I'm running them at 39 PSI which is what the manual suggests is the correct pressure. Does it vary from tyre to tyre then?

RE: S4 Tyres
I have Bridgestone Potenza RE040 (original fitment) - Grip does seem to be very good noise also seems quiet but difficult for me to compare as I've not tried anything else.
I will need two new fronts soon and will probably replace like for like to keep them all the same.
Anybody converted from the Bridgestones for a 'better' tyre?

Try the Kumho's
Theres a post on the B5 S4 forum about tyres.
I think I may either got the Kumho Ku31's or the Goodyears or the Toyo T1-R's
Good prices, and good reviews also.
