Guys, this is Tony Pond doing a lap of the TT course (not the full thing)

They allowed him to go out after the last bike one day so he had a closed road, first car to break 100MPH average speed around the course.

If you look at the 1:42 marker, you will see the corner I broke my car on, if you take the apex like he does, its not so bad, but if you stay on your side of the road ... eeek, well, just don't do it!

Great video, bad corner :-(

On race day's how do the organisers make sure some little old dear doesn't reverse her metro out onto the road?

Some of those houses are like right next to the road, hate to imagine the carnage of a crash......

there is the odd occasion when someone forgets... but with bikes zipping past between 100 and 200 mph, its hard to miss that the racing is going on. its very well publicised and everyone listens to the radio to find out when the roads are open or closed, which can vary from publicised times due to the weather.

there was an occasion a few years ago, towards the end of one of the races, when a old lady was reversing out of her drive when bikes were still going past... but the penalties are very severe, jail time i think plus hefty fines, so its not normally a problem. (i've been over loads of times as my mate is one of the nutters that races round there in TT week)

Do the tubular manifolds rich!!

If using stock manifolds and you get them ported you have to get them rewelded - tigged to give them the strength back.

Leon - RS6 turbos will fit on your manifolds. We have 3" DPs available to mate to rs6 turbos.

Nice.... that is good news.

As the Dr Doug says... do the manifolds NOW. FMIC etc can be done later when the money is available. Mihnea swears turbos spool quicker... my car feels no laggier now wtih K04's than what it did with K03's, infact when I first got the car back I was convinced it was quicker to come on boost!

I think getting my manifolds ported polished and coated for what is about 140 quid each is the way I want to go. I am going to get some good gains from this, and prob not far off the tubular ones, but at a fraction of the cost.

I am sure this, coupled with the FMIC is going to get me the best gains for my bucks. At the end of the day I am near the limits of this setup and the next route has to be Garret or RS6 turbos WITH a head gasket change.

So, if I can get 540/550 with this setup I am happy.

The latest ... Just got an email back from Jacob

He has told me that the turbine wheels has been torn un pretty bad, and he found a piece of metal in the turbine housing, this metal has not come from the turbo and has come from the engine somewhere?!?!??!

Also, the bearing housing seal is gone beyond repair and needs to be repalaced.

ALSO, the turbine housings have some cracking in them, in the normal spots for higher mileage KO3/KO4's, he says this is not an easy replaceable item, it will not affect performance but he can't guarantee they will not crack more...

Just goes from bad to worse ...

That is bad news mate! Are you going to pull the heads off the engine to check it?

What do the cracks mean for the turbo's? Are you going to get new ones?

Jacob is going to get a price together for me today, but my main concern is the cracking, I don't want to spend all this money getting turbo's 'fixed', only to find them cracked in a few months time, because lets face it, they are not going to get have an easy time on my car.

I am not sure what is needed to check the engine ??? The garage did a compressions test on the engine before and it was fine ... so, how do you find where a piece of metal came from!??!

I wondered (hoped!) that as well ... Its with the mechanic now, hopefully he can find the problem, otherwise do I hope for the best and slap some turbo's on, or do I rebuild the engine ...?!?!?!?

I would do a leakdown test. It sucks bigtime if the part is from the engine. It could be from ICs or IM too.
