Ok no probs.

Saw a car with washers on his brakes the other day, and he was wondering why he had bad vibration

With referance to pads, the Rs4's are softer and great for fast road, light circuit but I prefer a harder pad for full on track days, little or no fade but very slow to warm up on normal road use.

Always ask the guy how's fitting the kit, I know Ben at Sports Tech will give you good advise, as I'm sure Doug will (never meet Doug - but hopefully will on the Ring trip next month) you can't have the best of both worlds.

Either you will have to change them for track days or go for a compromise.

Only a thought.

Got the RS6/RS4 upgrade done today at MRC. What a difference. Even though they have not been bedded in yet, you feel much more confident that you will stop!! Plus they look the absolute business. :kissmyrings:

Doug also did a healthcheck on the engine and found 2 air leaks, one behind the manifold and one to the intercooler. He also discovered that my car had a remap, which was a surprise. When I took it to AmD to go on their rolling road, it came up with 382bhp, so assumed it was stock. But as they failed to notice the air leaks, Doug reckoned it was about 30bhp down on power. Now the car runs much smoother, quieter and feels a bit faster. Thanks Doug, you certainly know your stuff :D

Could someone measure the brake caliber thickness from the disk surface to the highest point? From thispicture, from the caliber yellow left surface to the gray left surface.

I bought new wheels, but the original S4 brake calibers are too thick! :( It is now about 55 mm with half worn pads.

Is there a difference between the RS6 and RS6+ setup?

In the brake dept. RS6+ has "punched" discs, about £100 per disc extra

Punched meaning holes. Like the RS4 B7 discs?

I'm asking this again, the spring is here and I'm in a very hurry to get the new wheels under! :)

So could someone please measure the brake caliber thickness, it wont take long?

New boy - hello.

(basic pre-cursor to potential silly question...)

About to buy an RS4 (at last) - was looking to upgrade the brakes pretty much straight away (to cope with power mods) and I was basically all set to go the MOVIT 4 pot route offered by QST at 2300+vat fitted

BUT - reading this I'm not so sure now

Is the RS6 calip+RS4 B7 disc conversion better? (obviously there will be personal 'opinions' in the mix but hopefully a definitive one way or t'other) -[ it's certainly cheaper at 1250 incl the VAT!]

Cheers in advance
Ash

The movit 4-pot solution is great by all accounts, but for road use you really don't need to spend that much.

Buy a set of OEM RS6 calipers and OEM RS6 pads (not from Audi BTW) - they bolt straight onto the existing RS4 disc - you will not be disappointed. You should be able to get the lot for around £600+VAT (however I've heard that Audi have put the prices up recently??)

I too have just had the RS6/B7 set up from MRC fitted at the weekend. The difference is HUGE. Lovely feel to the Pedal, very progressive and very powerful. Looks the poodles twitcher too!

Can't imagine why anyone would need to spend more!!!!! or go elsewhere!!

MRC are the business. :beerchug:
