hmm this has made me think a little - I have a MTM remap..
Does this mean that it cannot be tweaked further?
I am having a power run very soon and will looking to see if the can make any tweaks to smooth out curves etc. I presume this will not be possible....

I taken it to Sport Tech which is the best local specialist to me as I live in Nottingham.

No i no you wasnt Chubby and i fully agree with what you are saying, you take yours to Sport Tech because like you say its the best local specialist, the last time i went to MRC was for a new clutch and Doug actually said to me try finding someone in your area before you decide on the long trip to Oxford which i duly did but to no avail, no one was prepared to work on it.I say take on board all the comments, sum up whats best for you and if it works stick to it, there is no right or wrong way . :D

Had a superchip remap in the past on mine for a very short period of time and it was..........crap :dung: Went for an MRC remap afterward and it was so much better!!!! I am sure MTM are also really good of course but it does come to a cost.... :?

MTM chip runs high boost and low timing... that means more stress on the little ol K03's and less low down grunt. There are posts somewhere on here showing boost plots and timing plots against various chips. MRC run moderate boost and great amounts of timing. Feel of the car is quicker through the gears and much less stress on the turbos. MTM chips have been said to be laggy... I cant say as I have not compared like for like, I have gone on to K04's so cant compare how the car was and how it is now.

I had an MTM chip and one thing I can say is the economy was fantastic... performance less than average. If I had the choice it would be an MRC remap simply because they have the most experience in the UK. The votes on this post alone say it all.

Go MRC... if not I have an MTM ECU for sale if you want it... all you need is someone to fit it for you.

Nobody has come forward with an MTM chip! Until now that is. Mine had an MTM chip when I bought it and I fine it pretty good. Dunno why ZeroK66 is on about KO3's...RS4's run KO4's.

Without swapping my ECU for a stock one and then trying an MRC remap then I can say whetehr one is better than the other. Rememebr MRC do a generic remap or a custom remap. Personally I would like to try a back to back test between MRC and MTM on the same car.

BTW in the classifieds section I recall someone selling an MTM 475bhp rempped ECU and "stuff".

Derdle I have an MTM stage II on mine and it runs sweetly.
I have driven some remapped cars (particularly a custom mapped K04 S4) and they seem to be a bit lumpy at low engine speeds while mine pulls smoothly all the way through.
I appreciate MRC are a good company to deal with and other specialists maybe not so but MTM are as close to a genuine Audi remap as you can get.

Have mtm mrc revo and Wayne's world software.
MTM expensive and qst are up their own a***.
MRC are very good people and the mapping is well received by all who have it.
Revo is a good tune up without attacking the ecu and has good adjust-ability.
With Revo you really can turn up the boost, fine if you want this adjust-ability.
Only a select few will know Wayne's world.
All bar revo install chips.
I wish people would know what they are on about before sharing it.

I have logged many cars and helped many others with skn amd ebay stock and other codes.
The no 1 issue is know your car, sadly most are oblivious.
Any minor faults which all the cars have must be attended too and then there a subtle differences between good code.

I say go to the most down to earth places where you are well treated as a customer within your acceptable boundaries and keep every part under the bonnet mint.

I run an MTM Stage II RS4 and I think its great. It was already on the car when I bought it, which is good cos it ain't cheap but I tend to think you get what you pay for and as other have said MTM is the most respcted name in Audi tuning world wide. I've been in plenty of others and mine is certainly strong across the rev. range and feels quicker than many which boast more power. I don't find it laggy at all and its so much quicker to spool up than a standard car. If I was tuning it myself from standard I would certainly give MRC a go with a custom re-map but I am very happy with what I have currently and have no desire to up the power beyond my present level. Suspension will be my next major job.

I have now had my MTM chip removed...

I have been very happy with the MTM setup but feel now that Ben from Sports Tech has done some more mods on the cars that it needs a besoke re-map.

This will hopefully suit the car better and as stated will give a better usuable power range.

I am going for a Revo re-map and will report back when I have driven the car properly.

I believe the MTM chip is a piggy back system which is soldered onto and above the existing chip.

If you remove the chip you should be back to normal, give or take.

Then get a re-map form Revo or MRC.

If you don't like it put the MTM chip back..

I'm sure its not quite that simple but it is possible.
