coloured polish?

Hi everyone. I or should i say, me and the boss (wife) own a imola yellow, (i know it's not everyone's cup of tea) v plate s3. i was wondering if anybody new if there was a yellow coloured polish to just give it that extra help. looked everywhere but can only find every other colour possible.

any info would be great. cheers

What are u trying to achieve mate? Personally i would never use a coloured polish i dont think there is any need. If u are working by hand get yourself some Klasse All in One then top it with a good wax, like chemical guys 50/50 wax or collinite and you will be very happy. If u want to splash out then have a look at some swissol and zymol products

I used Zymol on my Green RS4 and the results were amazing. Really brought the colour to life. You need to do small areas at a time, and put a lightly damp cloth over everywhere to seal it. Looks the biz now. Graham

Hi stevieyid. As with other cars i've owned in the past, in certian lights and angles you can see slight swirl marks in the paint due to being washed with a sponge. on my other cars i used to use colour polish every other polish and this used to make a huge difference, i.e covering up the swirl marks. i will look into the makes you've suggested. I just couldn't believe nobody does a yellow polish due to the mass increase in yellow cars on the road! cheers again for suggestions.

Cant you get hold of that colour magic anymore by Turtle Wax then i know they used to do a yellow polish.

Halford used to do a colour range that i am sure included a red? If u want to mask swirls then one of the best in the business is definatly Autoglym Super Resin Polish. The klasse all in one is a chemical cleanser with a few other bits added.
Alternativly get a pro in to remove the swirls marks with a machine leaveing u a perfect base to add the other bits

i've tried the turtle wax web site but no yellow polish on there. suppose i could try a bucket load of the red polish and that should cover up pretty much everything. not sure if you got my e.mail reply stevieyd, but cheers for yours. as i've said before not the best with the comp

I recommend you get Meguairs Quik Clay, Meguairs Clear Coat polish, decent polishing cloths and a wash mitt. When i've used coloured polishes in the past (namely black), they seem to leave a dull finish.

Coloured polishes/waxes can only be regarded as temporary solutions...the waxy fillers soon drop out and you'll be back to first base again.

In much the same way as Autoglyms SRP works using chalky short lived fillers. You really need to use a very mild abrasive polish to achieve swirl free results.

You really need to be prepared to put some hard graft in and remove the irritating swirls permanently - then look at your car care regime to ensure that you don't inflict more paint damage.
Bin the sponge and buy a microfibre wash mitt, don't use any "round and round" motions when washing drying polishing etc - all common sense really!

I've a few car care handouts available as word docs by email - seem to be well recieved around the bazaars.

Yes your right, how strange i used to use it on my Renault 5 GT that i had resprayed Citrine Yellow about 8 - 10 years ago. It was definately Turtle Wax and i remember it was the new thing out, Halfords then brought out there own version. Turtle Wax even brought out colour magic for metallics. Wonder why they dont do it in yellow anymore?

The wife told me they used to do yellow but i said they couldn't have seeing as they don't do it now even with more yellow cars on the road. she's glad you've said they did cause i'd said she had gone mad. had some really good advice and info from stevieyid about products and how to clean. i have sent off for one of jac-in-abox's write up's but not yet recieved it. hope he got my e.mail but i've said before i'm not best on comp. thanks for everyone else's help too

First of all have to say massive thanks to both steveiyid and jak in a box for all their help and advice and the others who have posted on this discussion. and also, it was my fault i didn't recieve the info from jak in a box, i didn't send him a e.mail for him to reply to? think i need help a brain flush!
