Stolen Mirrors

Post by dlaing123 » Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:09 pm

Some thieving b****** stole the wing mirrors off my S4 Avant last night. This is the second time it's happened to me as they did the same with my S3 a couple of years ago. I assume there are lots of XR3i's in the Luton area with nice shiny aluminium mirrors.....

Anyway, Audi are quoting £900 + VAT for replacements which is a bit steep to say the least!

Anyone know of cheaper replacements? I'm half tempted to go for body coloured ones to avoid this again but I did rather love the aluminium ones.

An S4 with body coloured mirrors would be more difficult to sell to anyone who knows.

There's also the hidden cost of painting the non-aluminium mirrors - they are supplied in primer and you have to get them painted.

Wish I had chosen this option. Some fecking kraut goose walking SOB stole both of mine off last night. The cost to replace? A princely €1200.

ps. sorry to hear about your mirrors - mine must be one of the only B7 S4's in existance that the original owner spec'd body coloured mirrors as a no-cost option delete. I've been looking at eBay versions for over a year and never got round to ordering them.. maybe I won't bother if they're just going to get pinched.

Hi,

There's a set on ebay at the moment for around £250. They are not too bad to fit, I had to do mine last year when they got pinched. trickiest bit is getting to the 2 bolts on the inside of the door by the hinges

Not sure about the way you changed your mirrors but I just removed the one bolt holding the mirror in place. I read that some people remove the window frame but for me it was not necessary.
