WoW interesting post, i only use Vpower anyway but thats not the point, i think the most interesting thing to watch with this is how its going to effect Tesco's and Morrisons prices at the pumps. They are certainly going to get hit very hard by this across the country and they are going to try everything to resume consumer confidence. The other Petroleum companies are going to be quids in with this, imagine how many people across the board will now boycott the 2 supermarkets and use the likes of BP etc. Keep an eye on your Vpower supply i would imagine alot of petrol stations are going to run out before they normally would, or am i just getting over excited.

Oh dear... my lambda failed recently... Doug charged me a cool 150 to replace, wonder if it is related. I have had tesco super in my car when I have not been able to get V-Power... lets hope MRC are not using Tesco to map cars.

Well, Tesco 99 RON is supplied by Greenergy who are very clear that their product contains ~5% Bioethanol. The
problem is that it's really to find out what your petrol actually contains. btw, I would be very surprised if V-power
doesn't contain ethanol as well....

I have used Tesco 99ron since I got the S4. Looking at how the map on the BBC shows affected stations all around me, I think it could be time to try V-Power for the fill I need very shortly.

Knee jerk reaction, but I am not willing to chance it. Shame as Tesco is the only decent RON for miles literally.

Heard about this on the radio tonight. There have been problems with Fords using "Bio petrol" which contains a higher level of bio-ethanol and has caused severe damage to the engines...apparently the handbooks for the cars tell the owners not to use bio fuels because of the problems it causes.

Quite. Greenergy supply both unleaded fuels for Tesco yet I am not clear which or perhaps both of the fuels are affected.

Perhaps the ethanol content has suddenly varied?

Can I confirm a B5 S4 has the Oxygen sensor that the BBC are claiming is the part getting damaged by the fuel?

I have used Tesco 99 fo rthe last 3800 miles. I am torn as t what to fill up with next. part of me says stay with Tesco 99, part of me thinks make the trip to Shell.

Reports seem to be suggesting that it's only 95 RON fuel that is affected. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I would guess that the suspect "faulty" batch of fuel is already in all the car fuel tanks and out of the filling stations by now?

All modern cars have lambda probes/oxygen sensors ... correct me if I'm wrong but there is normally one before and one after the Cat?

My local Tesco filling station was deserted this morning...wonder why?

I would guess Tesco might do some offers to get customers back buying their fuel

Tesco might do some offers
I bet they don't do a BOGOF !
"Free Lambda probe with every gallon"

Tesco say they have tested their fuel but Trading Standards on the radio this morning said that test results are not expected until tomorrow at the earliest. So who is telling the truth?

Tesco may have done internal checks, but external trading standards ones take longer.

I think V-Power is as good as Tesco99 so dont think there will be any dip in power. I recon V-Power would have the edge on engine protection over Tesco due to the additives it has. V-Power is rated over 99, so certainly should do the same power.
