Nogaro Blue RS4 for sale at Martins, Basingstoke.

Post by JohnW » Sun Jun 01, 2003 11:15 pm

I had a deposit on this car but have decided not to go for it.I've decided to go for a car with grey leather instead (this one has black).

It is a cracking car with only 17k5 miles on it.
The dealer thinks it may have some work done to it, and it certainly goes better than the last standard one I drove.

It has standard satnav, 6 disk indash changer and changer in boot too. Thats about it on the options front.
Oh, it is up for 38k.

I don't have their number to hand, but I was dealing with Charlie Menard.

Hope this helps someone looking. It only arrived with them on Saturday, so has not been detailed as yet...

Cheers,
John.

Typical was looking for a nice nogaro RS4 for ages and as soon as I buy an Avus one they start becoming available!! Still I think I like Avus even more now especially with the anthracite Sportecs. John, assume we cant be far apart as I live about 4 miles north of Guildford?

Your right, maybe 10 miles between us.

I used to live in New Haw (between Woodham & Byfleet) and now live 6 miles south of Guildford in Cranleigh.

Sounds like there are enough of us to have a get together.
If people want a spirited drive to a nice pub I'd recommend the Parrot Inn at Forest Green, just south of Dorking.
Take a look at www.parrot-inn.com
Interesting trivia fact (or not !) - I did a search for this and found that it was once owned by the lead singer of Procol Harum !!

Give me a chance to get my RS4 first though, eh.
Unless of course I can tuck the 993 in the corner

Cheers,
John.

I'm from Camberley, so I'm only about 7 or 8 miles west of Guildford. Didn't think there were too many people that close to me on this site!

I remember seeing a 51 plate Noggy blue RS4 with black leather, and to be honest it wasn't my cup of tea, but I can see how it would be someone else's. But you're definately better off in the Avus! Much more Q car effect!

Rock on

Saw John's car this weekend and it's an awesome example.

If you ever think of selling..... hehe

Like the wheels especially, but would like to the 19's as a comparison.

Good thread, saw the car at Martins today, nice condition. I can also heartily recommend a spirited drive to the Parrot in Forest Green, I live 500yds from it. All they ever have parked outside is Astons (chap who owns the village owns quite a few of them) and a Caterham club meets there, about time they saw a decent bunch of cars.

Well, well Steve. Nice to hear someone else live local to me
I wish the pub was staggering distance fo me, you lucky thing

I've arranged for the porsche guys to meet there a few times, as well as the VW Corrado guys. They all love the roads (A24,A29), but I personally prefer the road back to Cranleigh

Next time I know I'm coming over that way I'll send you a mail, see if your free for a beer.

So were you tempted by the RS4 ?

The road to Cranleigh is only just beaten by the road to Ockley from Forest Green, I have a couple of old quattro's (10v and 20v) and they are superb around here - all down to the driver of course !!

It would take me very little to wander up to the pub for a beer - anytime.

I would prefer an unmodded car to be honest - I too like the one at Martins - seems to be genuine - and doubt it has been modded, if it is any quicker it was probably the end result of a good day at quattro gmbh and properly run in.

I have a 2 month old 3.0 Sport Cabrio to sell first though.....

Did you test drive it ?
I drove it last Sunday, and the salesman (Charlie Menard) thought it was modded as he thought it picked up a bit better than standard. I also think it went bette than the standard one I tried.

It has some extra alarm on it, but apart from that is pretty standard (options are black leather, sunroof, indash changer and boot changer too).

Guildford have a nice silver one in, but it has cloth interior. I test drove that one the week before
This is the standardone I thought didn't go quite as well, but to be honest I didn't get to give it a good runout as the saleswoman was getting nervous, mumbling about not wanting to have an accident and clinging to the base of the seat !
Even my wife thought it was funny

Keep looking mate, if your in no rush then one will come along.
BTW What do you think of the cabrio ?

Cheers,
John.

The cabrio is a nice ladies car, fortunately for me it is driven by my lady, however even she wants the speed back !!

I quite like Hi-Tec, the problem I have is that I dont like paying 2-3k more from a dealer and all they give you is a years warranty from date of sale. I suppose the warranty is useful but even the original y2k cars have 4-5 months of original dealer cover anyway.

I didnt test drive it, I didnt want to feel even worse by walking away. If I put a deposit on it they would only hold it until the end of the month and I cant guarantee selling the cabrio in that time...

Surely if an Audi dealer was selling a modded RS4 they would have to state the tuning done?

Or could it just be a salesmans fib..?

It's been there for more than a week. As a rough guess I recall it's been there for 4-6 weeks....

Nope, not the case.

They have had at least one other Nogaro blue one, and a silver one too I think (might have been black - can't remember).
I was told that the first one of these sold within 4 hours of arriving.
I got a call about this current one as soon as it arrived (I had put a holding deposit on it to get first viewing on its arrival).
It definitely wasn't there in the two weeks preceding this as I dropped in on a regular basis trying to make sure I didn't miss it

These garages do seem to advertise the cars as soon as they know they are coming though. The other Nogaro one I'm waiting on now has been advertised for at least 3 weeks and isn't due for at least another week

It seems like there is a regular supply of these things at present. Especially if you like Avus silver

I'm also wondering why all the current owners seem to be unloading them just when I'm looking to buy (is it something I said )

Cheers,
