WHICH OIL ?

At present i am using castrol GTX magnatec in my car,(ok'd by my audi specialist) [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]but after a little rally the other eve, [img]images/graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]i noticed the a tapping noise from the top of the engine, from experience this is the tappets, my friend says i should be using "castrol rs" in a car like mine. because it is better when hot ?!? [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
any ideas and experiences

Mine's currently got MOTUL 6100 Synergie in -as recommended by QS Tuning. The oil is fully synthetic. 5W40 and meets VW 500 00, 505 00 and 502 00

I've used Mobil 1 in mine from new.

Hi,

Check your oil level before anything else. The I5 engines can get tappety when the oil level drops.

I changed from magnatec to Vag Synta gold and haven't experienced any rattles since.

I use Castrol RS 10W 60. Note the Castrol RS currently on the shelves has altered to 5W... this resulted in low idle pressure. Consulting with Castrol technical, they stated that the change had resulted in some high performance cars (especially Porsches) having this problem. Castrol Rs 10W60 is available from Castrol Classic oils 01954 231 669, and it is delivered within 48hrs to your door, and CHEAPER than Halfords original price! Castrol told me that BMW 10W 60 is the same, available from BMW franchises.

Idle oil pressure using RS 10W60 unchanged even after heavy sessions on Castle Combe track on RS246 day out earlier this year... so viscoscity seems to be maintained during stressful use.

Mine is 135k, turbo seems fine, no oil consumption, will tell you if all is OK after BUPA health check by AMD Bicester soon.

Millers are about to release VW/Audi approved oils
Should have some at Rettendon on the 22nd or at least more details
