would i be right in assuming that it's only when you're aiming for over 470bhp or so when the moey involved starts to get a little silly?
i can't stress enough how more and more impressed i am about these cars the more i learn about them.
seem to me that with some minor suspension work added to approximately £5k of uprated turbo/fuelling kit and you've basically bolted on an extra 200bhp to your car.
simply unbelievable!!!
as most of the members here seem to have uprated their cars in some way, shape or form can you tell me what the finished products drive like?
do you lose any refinement/tractability or are does the car just feel like it came from the factory with more power?
c'mon guys there has to be some bad points or downsides for me to be aware of...doesn't there?

its still based on a family saloon so it aint no race car! even if it is as quick as one. even my car that is as low as can b, is still comfy only a little impratical "speed bumps" are a killer! so S4 is a very good fast car
The lowriders gone! But still loved. Long live the 911-C2!!!

I'd guess another 5 grand (after the APR 470 upgrade) for an extra 50hp is a little silly - personally don't think I'd notice that much difference - good bragging rights though!

Biggest one for me has to be the DTS and Shortshift, two cheap mods that transform the gear change - mines done 185K and feels like new with those.

Only bad point is I wouldn't expect a 500hp S4 to do much more than 250 to a tank - but then, you don't drop nearly 10 grand on a car's mods when you care about fuel consumption ;-)

Other than that, I hear it's prudent to make sure the fuelling is up to the job - someone here (forget who it was?) has melted 3 sets of K04's due to fuelling IIRC - big injectors and a pump should see you right AFAIK
Wanted: C5 RS6 Avant

Audis are cheaper than women, and when they finally leave they don't take your kids and half your stuff....
although smack either one about and the police turn up ;-)

may I also add that remapping may increase BHP but it can shift the torque higher up the rev range and you may be actually slower during in gear increments e.g. 50-70 in 4th/5th/6th
what makes my stock S4 special is the low down grunt and lack of lag, I've driven a 430 bhp K04 S4 and yes it's blindingly quick on the open rod but it has lag at slower speeds which mine doesn't, after all what do you use more, up to 60mph or up to 160 mph?

The quality of the mapping makes a huge difference to this on a K04'd S4.

I think Doc Al has just had a kit fitted by Awesome??
I wish! It was just the rattly manifolds last August.

Lousy, stinking, almost non-existent pay review means that there will be little if any change to my car's spec in the near future....

Well he is a chemist, not sure if he works in pharmaceuticals though .... I could be wrong; he could be a major crack baron (fnaarr fnaarr kyuk chortle titter)

And you're right: he is conspicuous by his absence .... maybe he's been arrested .....
OCD & short attention span (& lack of cash) has diverted my energies elsewhere (http://www.marinefish-uk.co.uk/forums/index.php).

Maybe he hasn't posted for a while as it maybe taking him a while to write his conversion dissertation ().

Come on Al spill the beans and if you don’t respond we will attack your Inbox with multiple PM's?
LOL - I know I've been away for a bit, but I didn't think I'd be missed. A PM will always get my attention.

I was so convinced that you were a member of a major Columbian drug cartel that I didn't think it safe to PM you - the rozzers might start investigating me by association .... !
