Bar-stewards! !

They're new there. Silly, used to be national speed limit.

I was going down the "Hogs Back" once (couple of years ago) and saw an old marked land rover police car ahead.

This was when it was 70 mph and he was doing 69 mph. Ggrrrrrrr!

I decided top roll past doing 75/80 thinking a land rover wouldn't be interested.

I was wrong, there he was up behind me and flashed his blues for a second or two. I returned the flash with a flash of hazards :D

He then flashed his blues again, this time for a bit longer. I returned again with a flash of my hazards but this time i raised my hand to agnolage him.

This wasn't good enough so he then put on his lights and siren. Hmmm, i think I'll pull over.

Conversation went on too long for me to type and keep anyone interested but after 4 or 5 minutes i asked him if he was going to do anything (knowing he couldn't) because i had to be somewhere.

He was gob smacked and i left.

His last few words were telling me he'd keep an eye out for me again and would get me one day.

I told mum when she got back from Spain to drive slowly round the Guildford area.

It was her car i was driving :D

They're up there pretty regularly - only answer is a Road Angel and a sharp pair of eyes.... well, I suppose you could go at 60.... no, the Angel it is!

Got pulled over on A331 last year too at about 85 in my Volvo - only good news was their statement "You set off so fast from the M3 roundabout that we couldn't keep up, or get the electronics set before you left the 50 limit." I guess that justifies the RS6... just to be sure I can go fast enough! 8)

Out of interest, why couldn't they do anything? And how could you be so sure?

Just in case I need to call on some tips...
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Old Land rover with no speed calibration equipment, (Defender type)

Only one officer in the car,

Basically, all he could do was ask for me to produce, insurance and mot.

One time this happened but i kept my mouth closed and said yes and sorry at the right times because my front plate was not legal. Didn't want the hassle.
This was when i was following a marked police bike down the A303 on the way to Cornwall for about 4 miles between 80-100mph, i was keeping about a 500 yard distance and the traffic was minimal.
Had my wife and in laws in the car while behind the police bike, after about 4 miles he pulled into a layby just to slow down, as soon as we went passed he pulled back out.
I knew he was going to pull me so before he had the chance i pulled straight into the next layby that happened to be about 1/4 mile after.

As i was coming to a stop i put the window down expecting the police guy to be by my window in a few seconds.
He turned up still on his bike with one of those modern flip crash helmets. I nearly pissed myself because he was trying to open it really quickly as soon as he stopped, could he open it ? Could he duck :D
Because of this he got humiliated, all flustered he lost his words in that normal police manor way and started talking bollox

Basicly saying "just because I'm in front of you doesn't mean i don' know what speed you were doing, blah blah blah!"

I kept my head low, said sorry when i had to and in 2 Min's we were back on or way

Times like that i wish my plate was OK (only the front thats modded). would have loved to ask him for his excuse for doing those speeds.
With him having NO blue lights he can't have been on a call, therefore we were both "bad people".

The whole incident really was quite funny,

I know two wrongs don't make a right.
I hope I'm going to get a 246 beating for being open minded.

Too far south for my operating area, but there isn't much you can do about camera vans, other than make sure your GPS device has updated sites of mobile and static enforcement sites to warn you you are entering a "collision hotspot" area.

If you get a pull by a traffic cop and show a little humbleness, providing they are not a clever xzxhole you may get a warning, most lads I know are petrol heads on the QT

Remember, although it is not a national guideline you are looking at Endorsable Ticket at 10% + 2mph over posted limit and reported for summons at 10% + 2mph x2 over the limit.

You drive a quick car, you need the skills and eyesight to control it safely, advance obs is the key

Remember that the Laser jamming devices may get you in the dock for Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice.

Plenty you can do about camera vans http://forums.pepipoo.com/ I have no GPS devices and have had a clean licence for 20 years along with a draw full of NIP's

Don't want to start a debate but, there isn't much you can do once they have photo evidence.

Received an NIP from Wiltshire constabulary yesterday mornin

Post by jonathanb » Sun Feb 25, 2007 4:58 pm

Alleged 96 on the M4 (Convenient that I gather this is the speed at which they treat you as a real criminal and take you to court). A real pain as I have 6 points for speeding from 18 months ago. Feels like I might get a ban. Anyone got any thoughts on things I should do. I feel as though I should not be responding to the NIP as I incriminate myself which I though was against the European Court of Human Rights.

Kind regards

Jonathan

Was that from a fixed camera on a Motorway or a traffic officer?? If its a traffic officer I thought they had to pull you over on a Motorway?
