Can someone advise me what tyres to get Re: RS2? I have been told that whitelining/tramlining is non-existent in 4WD if one does NOT use unidirectional tyres...
Makes & sizes would be useful, after I had a disaster with P-zeros that had a wide tread width that rubbed...
Thanks y'all

Re: RS2 TYRES
The RS2 was only homologated on one size of tyre namely the Dunlop SP Sport 8000 in 245/40ZR17. Unfortunately, Dunlop no longer make these tyres and no other 245/40ZR17 tyre will fit on the 7 inch rims of the RS2.
You therefore have to downsize to 225/45ZR17 and check with the tyre manufacturer that the tyre is ok for fitment on a 7 inch rim. The other factor to consider is the load speed rating as the RS2 is quite heavy and needs 90W or 91Y - i think.
Tyres which people have fitted are :
Bridgestone Potenza S03
Bridgestone Potenza RE040
Michelin Pilot Sport 2
Pirelli P Zero.
Dunlop SP8080

Re: RS2 TYRES
I run S03's on my A4TQM, and love them. Slightly better than my OEM Pilot SX's, and better than my previous Yoko's AVS that wanted to track me off the road.

Re: RS2 TYRES
After considerable research I opted for the new Michelin pilot PS2 Pilot Sport tyres to replace my Dunlop SP 8000 and think they are very good. The handling is slighter sharper and they are a little quieter.
I downsized from 245/40/ZR17 to 225/45/ZR 17 91Y
I was condidering also Pirelli P zero Rosso and Conti Sport (which would have worked out cheaper) but I went with michelins and am very happy with the overall result.

Re: RS2 TYRES
Hi there all.
I opted for Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's (at 225/45/R17) after they won the EVO tyre competition and because they were noted for there quietness (NOT something those original Dunlops were very good at!). I run them at 39 psi on a long run, 36/37 around town to smooth the ride a touch. They are rated 91Y, so I have no worries about too much weight; in fact I recently drove Heathrow-Devon at 90+ all the way, not realising that my nearside rear had 2 nails in it and was down to 18psi - no dramas, no difference, even!!!
Firstly, these are MUCH,MUCH quieter than the Dunlops (not hard, I know) and secondly the car handles exactly the same - brilliantly. That's all I have to say, they are that good. After 8000 miles they still have lots of tread, despite my heavy right foot and enthusiastic cornering. (I am told) they have been tested to 160mph and 2 hours at 90mph without any problems at all. They also look dead horny due to their pointy tread pattern and I got 4 for £103 each, fully inclusive and fitted. Just remember to get an omni-directional spare!
Hope it helps.
We happy few.
