Anti Roll Bar Torque Settings

Post by 1982Deaks » Sat Jan 27, 2007 5:29 pm

Hi all,

I'm gonna be fitting some H+R front and rear anti roll bars in the not too distant future, after reading so many positive things about them! I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the various nuts and bolts should be torqued up to?

Thanks :D

I thought the normal torque setting's were

T
FT
VFT

thats what I was taught years ago ...................... before I knew better although they still apply if I've not got a torque wrench to hand

Does it matter about overtightening and squashing the bushes?

Here you go...

Front anti-roll bar:

· ‒ Attach connecting link to anti-roll bar -1- (tightening torque 100 Nm).
o Always use new ribbed nut.
· ‒ Tighten hexagon nuts -2- to 25 Nm.
o Always replace.

Rear...

25. Hexagon bolt, 50 Nm
26. Self-locking nut, 40 Nm
o ◆ Always replace
30. Hexagon bolt, 25 Nm

PS: This is for MY2000 not sure if this is the same for all years.

Conversions:

25 Nm = 18.4 lbf/ft

40 Nm = 29.5 lbf/ft

50 Nm = 36.8 lbf/ft

100 Nm = 73.7 lbf/ft

Please note that the information I have posted above relates to facelift S4B5 (MY2000+), not sure if earlier cars will have the same torque settings.
