Ohh, FFS!
Right, panic over, and pictures updated
So, guess I will change my question to, I assume this is not the large of the two H&R kits!

Can you buy just a new rear bar if you wanted a fat bar.
I'd have your old bar...

If viber does not take you up on this, you can make me an offer for mine if you like Mark, I'm after a thicker one for track use now.

I have the thicker rear and the front one on mine - all set to as stiff as possible and I find the ride perfect. It was suggested that I may suffer more bump steer wtih the fronts set to hard. I did set them to medium and found the handling worse and the bump steer no better. Turned out to be my tyres, so it is set back to stiff front and rear and I love it.

ok - i did the 'snub mount adjustment' tonight from underneath the car (front still on); what I ended up doing was not what i thought it'd be - when you jack the front up and take the undertray off you see the snub mount straight away, but it's bolted to the engine block with 3 big alan-key bolts - these are impossible to undo because of lack of space - but if you then look at the housing plate that the snub-mount pushes against on the front of the car you see it's attached by 4 bolts - i undid these and pulled HARD down on the plate - with some leverage (and serious grunting and swearing) it shifts downwards - then i tightened all 4 bolts again ... haven't driven it yet so can't say if i feel any difference or not - but just thought i'd share this with anyone who was thinking of doing it ...

Ok Dave. Let me know when you get the bar off the car.
I wonder what it would be like just doing the rear bar. Maybe time to start a new thread...

Hey S4TAN, you been out in your car today?? Does your SNUB feel any tighter?
I guess with a poly snub there wouldn't be much tightening that could be done being so much harder than rubber...

Been out in the car - but to be honest haven't noticed a great deal of difference (maybe cos I already have a DTS?) - but it's good to know the snub mount is as tight as it can get against the buffer-stop thingy ....

just my two penuth but,
Having fitted both the AWE DTS and H&R bars in the past couple of months, i would say the H&R bars were the best and were a pretty cheap upgrade.i got mine from Orange Tuning in Germany for £265
Think i saw another upgrade on AW about using forged or billet aluminium, rose jointed Subaru impreza rear drop links on the front ARB to replace the standard plastic droplinks, they are the same C shape but i guess the improvement is minimal.
The DTS certainly stops drivetrain movement, but didn't stop an annoying thump from the drivetrain when changing gear under hard acceleration. Turned out that the rear diff mount was soft, not suprising aftere 8 years sat next to a hot exhaust, but now replaced it and its like new.

Interesting... tell us more... I always just thought this was normal?

There is still a slight noise if you let the clutch engage too quickly, but the sound before changing the mount appeared to be coming more from the back of the car and could be felt as well as heard if that makes any sense.
Anyway when i got the car serviced for the first time they fitted the DTS which i hoped would cure it and they pointed out the marks where the diff had been hitting the underside of the car, and the noise was still there, changed the diff mount and no more noise.
heres a link to the how to replace from audiworld

Right, time to order the thicker ARB's
One quick question, what's the rough labour time to fit these? I would do it myself but am living in France right now and have no access to tools.
This means trying to speak my best French(!) and negotiating a deal with a local garge, be good to know roughly how much you guys were charged for fitting before I go in.
Do I need to order anything else (rear drop links??) just in case, because I can't afford to be without the car for too long.
