Everything is a competition to me!

I have a caterham, and I hate wasting time changing wheels over when I am at the track, plus I plan to take the Audi up and have a wee go in it each track day, again, I plan to try and get another alloy set because we all know what a track does to those nice expensive tyres!

i got 1 from macro for 19.99..there as cheap as chips they sort of do the job..i only got it for a spare..my everyday 1 is a snap on CT3850..18v

200lb/ft is some serious grunt! What on a car would be that tight, IIRC your wheels should be 90lb/ft...surely nothing needs to be any tighter than your wheels?

Sounds cheap anyway, but struggle with the concept that a 12v tool can achieve that......a 12v tyre inflator takes forever to inflate a mattress when camping

i have used it on my cab and it does undo the wheel nuts..there 27mm socket size..it just sort of winds up then grabs it and it comes loose..

Prefer the Stratos in the picture above.

As Simon suggests the Snap On one for every day garage use, use mine most days gets loads of abuse. Change it FOC with the Snap on dealer if it goes wrong.

Rich, been using a Sealey Premier Line CP001 cordless impact wrench for many years and can highly recommend it!

Cheers guys ... been having a look at the snap on and sealey products ... as expected, a little more than 40 notes!

My new idea is possibly buy a nice torque wrench (Anyone know what pressure the wheel nuts should be tightened to?) and use a cordless drill to take the nuts off, and put them back on (not to any pressure, use the torque wrench for that)

David7m above, 90lb/ft. A decent torque wrench is fairly expensive, might find a Snap-On on eBay if you do and it is an old one (oldy but goody as life time replacement) check it has been recently calibrated.

Do you have a ciggy lighter on the caterham?!
Lots of the guys I rally with are buying these as they save so much time when you only have 20 minutes service. Snap On is obviously the ultimate choice but there are cheaper makes if your not going to use it everyday.

Yeah, I put a cig lighter i the caterham for all the video gear etc ... but I think I might try and get an adapter to use my cordless drill, and spend the 80/90 quid on a good snap on torque wrench ... more uses I think with that ...

The prob with torque wrenches is that you can't get one to cover all options. I was given a Halfords job last year, but this only goes upto 50lb/ft, so clearly no good for wheels ....but, the big jobbies for wheels dont go low enough, so you'll prob end up needing/buying two!

These puppies are only Halfords, but as you can see, there are three different torque settings.

LOL!, I thought about this as well!! but I saw some that do from 30 to 200 ... which, is close enough for some smaller jobs ... but then its prob back to the T, VT and VFT as Mark I think mentioned!
