Are you sure they are talking about the RNS-D disk?

That sound just like the RNS-E Disk from the description

Don't know, if I'm being honest.

They know the car and he has the chassis number and he put me on hold while asking someone from parts and warranty.

Time will tell i guess.

I think the dealer is talking about an RNS-E DVD, not an RNS-D CD.

99% certain that you are being offered a DVD for RNS-E or the newer A6/A8 MMI. It will not work in the older CD-based Nav+ which was factory-installed in most RS6.

BTW, TMC on the RNS-E is far superior to that available on the older Nav+! Over the last week, I've been making good use of mine driving in/around London.

Just re-read this post and realised the dealer DEFINITELY IS talking about a DVD for an RNS-E.

Why? It says "Covers Europe".

ONLY the DVD covers Europe, the CD is one per country.

Made ANOTHER call today.

Yes, Dave was right, Audi were wrong.

Looks like I need to buy a TomTom for my journey through France to Germany.

Or has anyone got a French or German Cd they could lend me in April?

Hey Craigyb - I'm listening! :notworthy:

Your earlier post gave me the info on the Nav Tech CD for RNS-D (thanks). Do you happen to know if the Audi one has the same info (incl TMC), and whether it's cheaper or more expensive (as if I needed to ask) as I presume that RNS-D isn't going to be covered by the Audi warranty unlike the RNS-E series.

I think Audi supply the same ones, I know when I bought my S8 the dealer supplied a 2004 DX disk brand new that did not have TMC, I had to buy another one and sell mine. Your better off going straight to the navshop.

Hi Craig,

I have the Navigation Plus setup in my car, so I assume that it's the RNS-D system which uses a CD. Just a couple of questions.

Firstlly, is it just the latest CD (2006/2007) that you sent the link to in an earlier post that has the TMC facility, and, if I get the disc, is it easy to enable?

And secondly, is there no a subscription to pay to use TMC?

Cheers

Jarv

Just insert the disk and tmc will work, no subscription needed.

Excellent. And what about TMC working on older versions of the CD? I've seen a cheaper one on fleabay and it says it's a DX and it's the latest version, but if it isn't I was worried that the TMC may not work.

Here's the link to the item if you want to check it out:

There are 2 versions, a cheaper one that is not TMC and the one with ITIS (TMC). The one on ebay does not mention ITIS, so I would say it is not a TMC disk.

Non TMC disk around £100
TMC (ITIS) disk around £165

Both disks are DX disks.
