15k miles in and all 4 tyres need to be replaced v shortly. Kwik fit have 30% off if you buy 4 tyres in Jan. Prices range from £218 for Pirelli, £238 for Continental and £299 for Michelin.

I have seen various posts on this issue, but is there really that much difference between the 3 makes given the cars level of handling and grip?

Are those prices with the 30% off already? I was going to try the Michelin's next on mine. I've heard that the Pirelli's start off with less tread depth than other makes too.

They are full prices per tyre before the discount.

I had Conti's on my S4, they seemed fine? Not sure about the Pirelli's that are on the RS4

Michelins on my RS4 from new are fine, you'll find they will last so much longer than the Pirellis.

if you do go with Kwik rip .. and god help you ... do your quote online it is always less.

When they take the tyre off they should run electrical tape round the rim to stop any damage.

There was a recent poll over on the S4 forum... and the Eagle F1's won hands down... over double the votes of the nearest tyre. I have only ever purchased these and always are my first choice.

My first RS4 had Michelins the new one has Contis - to me for my mixed driving of motorways and back roads the both seem about the same - I certainly couldn't say one was better than the other. I got 20K miles from the Michelins!

I don't think they do the Eagle F1's in Extra Load rating required for the RS4.

IMO they are not that grippy in the wet or dry to a certain extend and they are loud. This is probably due to them being a hard compound. Initially had them on the S4 and did my best to wear them out as quickly as possible. In the end I gave up and just changed them way before the reach the wear indicators. Now I wear Eagle F1's. Much better allround grip and quieter

Michelin Pilot Sport 2's every time; Best price I have had so far for these is £180 a tyre when buying 4. Ordinarially I pay about £220 a tyre if for one or two.

On third set of P Zeros. About £161, very happy with them.

Thats the thing... P-Zeros, great grip and ride but because of the softer compund only lasted me about 10,000 a set; I was introduced to PS2's, which have astonishing grip considering that I now get over 20,000 miles a set. they are clearly a harder compound, but Michelin have worked their majic to maintain hhhuuuggeee levels of grip. Sidewall is firmer that p-zero's so you get a slightly harder ride.

I have only had my car one week but even so I am very impressed by the ride quality from the P Zero's.
