S4 isn't a "family" car
Perhaps change the title too:- "I'm Lanky and drive like I'm sat in a deck chair"...Hehehehe
I'm 6ft we have a 21month old and TWO more due end of this month. Bought an X-trail for the better half as the Pug206 was too small. Going to half a line of three Recaro child seats in the back of mine when needed. It better still be a family car. It tows, goes to the tip, tescos and all sort of nice things. At least the leather is rally easy to clean.....Top motor. 4 weeks or less until I can never sleep again,,again.

I think it would be fair to say that the car is a family car but everything is relative and in fairness we must agree that there are bigger cars out there. The B6/B7 is exactly the same. I have an 8 year old who sits in her booster seat behind the driver and both myself and wife are quite short and we have no issues but I can see how extending the seat back a few more inches would cause issues.
The up side of having little rear space is that you have a huge boot....and the A4 boot is massive...great for buggies etc, shame you can't fit the kids in the back at the same time...

LOL at the title suggestion - I can't argue against that

I've got an 8yr old son and my current girlfriend has a 10yr old and 6yr old - we've had all 3 in the back of mine (drivers seat is at full extension as I'm 6'1") with no issues, although i have to agree that the leg room is pretty non-existent; i certainly couldn't get an average size adult sitting behind my seat ...
... 2 adults "trying to make a family" in the back seat is pretty difficult too ...

The B5 A4 shape was never intended to be a "family" car. More of a saloon for the company car driver.
I sold my S4 as it was tight in the back with both kids feet touching the back of the front seats, and when we wanted to go out with the family with adults in the back, the legroom very poor. Infact non existant!
OK for short trips but for any long distance travel, it was very uncomfortable.
It was even worse in the RS4 with the recaros being a deeper seat.
Even my Mk4 Golf has more room and is certainly more practical!
Yes you can move the front seats forward to cramp up the front passengers too, but why should you need to compromise?
The A6 is more a family car, and great for long distance journeys as the rear seats are more reclined, with masses of legroom.
