Hi guys!
I'm brand spanking new here and although not an s4 owner currently, am hoping to buy an avant imminently...
Have seen 3 now and have been trawling this forum looking for hints and tips ...lots of useful info...thanks! Out of the 3, one stands out initially as being a potential candidate. Looks great, starts and drives smoothly and quietly...no apparent rattles, wheezes or looseness. However, one thing that I did find upon close scrutiny of the documentation for the car...the audi dealer book is stamped and ticked exactly as it should be (all audi dealers) but there is no further supporting paperwork to back this up (ie receipts or reports).
What do you guys think of this?
Also, one more thing. Does anyone else here have the cloth interior? The inside looks great except there is a small amount of fluffiness to the side support of the drivers seat. The car has just shy of 80k on the clock (I know.....if it transpires that the 80k service hasn't been done, there'll be some serious bargaining being done!) Is that to be expected?
Thanks!!
Nick

I just bought an S4 just shy of 80k miles a couple of months back. Mine is one of the few that has a cloth interior, which although doesn't have any noticeable wear, does seem to have picked up quite a lot of (hopefully innocent) stains along the way.
The full 80k service (inc. Cambelt/waterpump/etc. changes) I think costs in the region of £800 from a main dealer. When I bought mine the cambelt had been changed earlier this year, so my 80k service only cost £330.
As for the service history, proper Audi dealerships will be able to confirm all of the work done on the car as they keep a history of it on computer. Note that if any body work or resprays have been done, they tend not to keep the detail of what was done if more than 2 years ago, but they still have a record of it having been to the body shop. I had no receipt for the cambelt having been changed from the previous seller, but managed to confirm this by calling the dealership.
Hope this helps.

fluffiness on seats can be taken off with a razor - without shaving cream!
I am not sure if it is allowed or not but Audi can give you all the history and a copy off work carried out on cars that have gone through their books.
